Hi,

Your motherboard is equipped with a chipset H170 (1xx series), this chipset does not support the CPUs Coffee Lake i3/i5/i7 8xxx, it is mandatory to have a motherboard with chipset series 3xx to use your i5 8400 : https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1035816

Ok thanks, I just wanted to make sure. I want to stck with Asus and if I go to check MB's would it list that its a 3xx series chipset?

Ok I found them Which one in your opinion would be better. ROG STRIX B360-F Gamming, ROG STRIX B360-G gaming or the H370-I Gaming or what about one of t he Asus Asus Z370 models

First of all, look at the differences between the chipset B360 and H370 with respect to your needs :

Image

And for information :

ROG STRIX x3x0-E GAMING : ATX (With Wi-Fi + Bluetooth)
ROG STRIX x3x0-F GAMING : ATX
ROG STRIX x3x0-G GAMING : m-ATX
ROG STRIX x3x0-I GAMING : m-ITX (With Wi-Fi + Bluetooth)

I'm trying to compare them on Asus's website. The Z370 is out of the question I have been reading a lot of things not working right on it, so for sure it's going to be the H370 or B360. Now I like the H370-F Gaming it has more usb ports which I totally need. This is what I was looking at https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813119071&cm_re=Asus_H370-F_Gaming-_-13-119-0...

Now another question I have, I will probably need different RAM? 74265

Your DDR4 is perfectly compatible with the ROG STRIX H370-F GAMING motherboard (you have DDR4 2133 and this motherboard can receive DDR4 up to 2666)

Great that will save me 165.99 for now....lol. Now to talk the hubby into my upgrade. Did you check the link to the MB I was looking at?

Oh, I do have another question ask I was reading an article on best CPU's for gaming. The CPU I want is good for that but I watch on netflex, will that cpu work good for that? According to that article it seems not so good. https://www.pcworld.com/article/3273404/components-processors/best-cpus-for-gaming.html?idg_eid=727a...

which CPU for gaming [I play battlefield 1 and Far cry 5] plus watching on Netflix I should mention that the cpu I have now Intel core i5-6500 320 GHz, are any these better than that one? Which one of those would be good for gaming and watching netflix?

Ryzen 5 2600X
Core i5-8400

I have a ZALMAN CNPS9900 NT 120mm 2 Ball Low-noise CPU Cooler, will that still work on any of these CPU's?

Ok I did some searching and found out if I want the Ryzen 5 2600X cpu I have to get a different MB than what I was first looking at. First I do a little gaming and watch on Netflix, will this CPU work for all that? The MB I found I need to work with the CPU is the Asus Prime X470-Pro, now my questions, will my DDR4 2133 still work on this MB and ZALMAN CNPS9900 NT 120mm 2 Ball Low-noise CPU Cooler work on it and then I plan on getting a new power supply, will this work CORSAIR RMx Series RM850x? Thanks, the sooner I get answers I can buy before hubby changes his mind......lol
