Is anyone else experiencing an issue where Asus lighting service prevents CPU to drop clock speed to idle? Only "Static", "Breathing" and "Color cycle" are working correctly and they let CPU to idle, all the rest will keep CPU clock speed maxed out all the time.

I can confirm Asus aura software and lightingservice.exe 'cause CPU around 10%~15% usage on my i9 9900K CPU, that's the reason why my HTC VIVE get gitter and gaming are not full speed, please fix this issue asap, right now I already uninstall Asus aura software, all the issue being solved.

I can confirm the excessive CPU usage for any choice in AURA that isn't either Static, Breathing or Color Cycle. Those settings use negligible CPU. However, Rainbow, Comet, Flash and Dash, Wave, Glowing Yoyo, Starry-Night, Strobing, SMART!, and Music all use approximately 10% CPU. This is some pretty poor performance, for just changing the color of a few LEDs, and should be fixed yesterday.

    Same Issue

I have the same issue with Lighting Service. When the leds use the rainbow effect i get at least 1.6% ussage of CPU. Sometimes it even gets to 10%.
What I don't really understand is why is the service needed at all. Maybe I'm missing something but, if when I switch my computer off the rainbow effect can keep working, why there has to be a Windows Service running all the time for the effect to work when the PC is on?

No it's not. It keeps happening with v1.07.71.
ASUS released now Armoury Crate which includes Aura 3.0.
Honestly, it's just a prettier interface. The LightingService is still there and it keeps doing the same. In my case it's about 6% of CPU usage, which could be roughly thought as one logical core at 100% (Because the CPU has 8 cores with SMT)
At this point, I'm thinking they are not going to fix it. I still don't understand why the service needs to consume CPU to make a light effect if the motherboard can do it when the PC is off.

This is not acceptable, not by any means. How is it possible that other softwares can handle lighting, fans, temps, pumps etc. without forcing CPU to max out cores and ASUS can't even handle lighting without issues?! Like what the actual f**k?!
