Question G-Skill TridentZ RGB F4-3200C14D-16GTZR compatible with Asus ROG Strix X470-F Gaming

    Hi All,

I'm going to buy Asus ROG Strix X470-F Gaming motherboard for my Ryzen 7 2700x processor.
I already have a G-Skill Trident Z RGB F4-3200C14D-16GTZR 2*8Gb kit, however this kit is not listed in the QVL for Asus ROG Strix X470-F Gaming*motherboard.*

Can anyone confirm if this G-Skill TridentZ RGB F4-3200C14D-16GTZR RAM 2*8Gb kit will work with Asus ROG Strix X470-F Gaming motherboard?
Is anyone using this same spec on their Rig currently?

    Regards,
    Nash

If you don't plan on overclocking the RAM, you *should* be fine. Otherwise, you want to look for the kits with model numbers that end in GTZRX.

That kit will be Samsung B die RAM IC, single rank/sided RAM. It is the most favoured "setup" to use on Ryzen and most supported by all AM4/sTR4 motherboards.

Buy it without hesitation. It will work at stock and OC'd way better than a RAM kit with a differing RAM IC.

As to buying RAM on QVL see this post, link.

I own F4-3200C14D-16GTZ, F4-3200C14Q-32GTZSW, F4-3200C14Q-32GVK. Some of those kits are not on the QVL for C6H, C7H and ZE, they will nail 3466MHz easily. As all are Samsung B die RAM IC, single rank/sided RAM. The weakness to gain 3200MHz+ is usually CPU IMC.

I would not pay for "X" designation RAM. Several members on OCN have used Flare X/Trident Z "optimised for AMD" and not noted a difference to justify it, if it costs more than the "Intel" tested RAM.

Thanks for the reply guys... I am glad this will save me a lot of $$s in RAM expenses...

I had used this G-Skill Trident Z RGB F4-3200C14D-16GTZR kit on my Asus ROG Strix X370-F Gaming MoBo last year and am upgrading the MoBo to Asus ROG Strix X470-F Gaming and just wanted to carry forward the same RAM kit to the new MoBo.

RAM kits are very expensive in India ... More than the MoBo itself...
