Asus X550ZE XX041H Dual Graphics card only using onboad Graphics?

Hi Guys, yep I know its not a ROG Laptop but Asus have shut down all the forums for us Plebs...!!

It is however a very serious matter.

I have an Asus X550ZE XX041H Laptop it has:

AMD Radeon® R5 M230 + Radeon® R7 M270 DX Dual Graphics with 2GB DDR3 VRAM Built-in FX-7600P

According to Speccy, the R5 has 2GB of VRAM and the R7 has 1GB of VRAM

When Gaming the games tell me they can only see and use the R7 which has 1GB VRAM.
Every game I've tried is the same, they are not seeing or using the R5...

Indeed the whole laptop is not using the R5.....!!!

Can anyone help or are you just going to shut down this thread?

Hi,

Try the following;

- Right-click the application icon
- from the pop-up contextual menu, check if there is an option to select the GPU that application will run on.

Willkane

Thanks have tried that, there isn't.
Indeed if I monitor the R5 it shows no use whatsoever for anything!
It is totally and utterly redundant.

Ok, that seems to work with Intel's GPUs, which is my case.

Take a look at the following youtube link:

That guy isn't using exactly the same GPUs as you, but I might suspect it should be applicable to you too.

Cheers,
Willkane.

Yep, I've tried that....there are no additional settings in my Andrenalin suite.
Also if I use an earlier Driver it still does not work.
Sure I can switch it to dual graphics but I cant get the R5 GPU working at all, never.
I have also tried the the Guide you posted from Tom...
There is nothing that works.
I am moaning at Asus at the moment (Technical Customer Service) and nothing they suggest works either.
I think it's a con, it's never worked!!
It should be laughing at games like Watch Dogs 1+2, The Crew 1+2, The Division...instead it dies on its feet, tripping over 4FPS!!
DUAL GRAPHICS....NOT EVEN NEARLY
With the R5 never stirring into motion

Mmm... There must be a standard procedure to check that scenario.
ASUS support should provide to you with the minimal required steps to verify that aspect of the hardware.
If that fails, then it sounds like a faulty hardware, and what follows is RMA, I guess.

The pattern I see here is that the customer is lately "paying" for all of the hassle.
ASUS releases faulty notebooks, the reseller doesn't commit almost to nothing, then is the customer's money and time wasted.
