i7-7700K Kaby Lake 4.2GHz LGA 1151 over clocked to 5GHz
Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB 4 x 16GB DDR4 ( CMK64GX4M4A2666C16 ) pc3-19200
NVIDIA Quadro P4000
Corsair TX 750M 80+G ATX PSU
Corsair H115I LIQUID COOLER
COOLMASTER MASTERCASE PRO 5
2x SAMSUNG E 250GB 960EVO NVME M.2 in RAID 0 for boot and program drive

Thinking of buying just a

It's a pricey option over the 8700K and you prolly won't need it. But wanting it is entirely different.. So if money is not an issue, go for it.

You will get a "decent" boost but arguably not worth the cost. -- http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-7700K-vs-Intel-Core-i7-8086K/3647vsm516988

Sounds like a great build to me, been very happy with my 8700K, you should still be able to get a decent return on your existing MB and CPU to offset the upgrade

You can easily ebay them for enough to cover your new motherboard and a six pack of your favorite beer

All specs are identical except prices and clock speeds:

i7-8700K, $350, 3.7GHz Base, 4.7GHz Turbo (6/7/7/8/9/10)
i7-8086K, $425, 4.0GHz Base, 5.0GHz Turbo (3/4/4/5/6/10)*
* doesn't (yet) support useless Intel vPro and Intel SIPP Technologies

I expect existing LGA1151 motherboards won't be fully compatible with i7-8086K until they receive a firmware/BIOS update.
