With Ryzen when OC'ing RAM I find it's best to do reruns of tests, before settling on a setup and moving on to further MHz, etc. As post to post the way memory training occurred can "shift". I would test a profile from posts where PC was just powered up from shutdown and from restarts. If it passes reruns then I deem it stable.

4x8GB single sided/rank RAM I haven't yet got past 3200MHz on 2700X+C7H, hate to think how much of a PITA 4x16GB double sided/rank RAM would be. Dunno if things have improved for The Stilt either on higher density RAM, past post. Another post I found interesting as well.

Hey bud - good to see that you are still around!
@Sedare - the Gup is THE SOURCE for all things Ryzen.

Wow, great(ly disappointing) posts by The Stilt. Hope things improve for Ryzen+ and 4x16GB eventually. Is it too much to wish for some Stilt presets?

@Sedare as I said, mostly uncharted territory... but someone has to be first right?

Thanks for all the feedback and help guys. I'll keep tinkering once I get the system back up and running. Today was for fully building it out. Got the monoblock installed and 3 rads. Need to get some longer screws and such to better mount the res and then it's bending time. Oh and more fittings lol. 3 rads makes the dynamic a bit constrained but this is fun.

Hi chap! , yep still meddling with Ryzen . As much as I like some of what has gone on with gen 2, some aspects seem disappointing.

I was also disappointed to read those posts. I'm guessing the IMC was not "reworked" significantly. I can't help but think some of the tightening up of gen 2 for latency has probably impacted behaviour with higher density of RAM. As UEFI/AGESA updates can include IMC FW updates the situation my improve somewhat. Only thing is in the back of mind I have a thought that perhaps it can't improve that much either.

For example when gen 1 launched it had a sever lack of UEFI options to play with RAM, etc. These aspects improved as time went on and then basically a plateau was reached IMO, where I really feel we'd got what we'd get. When Threadripper launched from the "get go" it had what Ryzen gen 1 had after several months of being released. Gen 2 again like Threadripper has all options from the "get go".

The thread linked by gorpo, in post 25 is definitely something I'd be referencing. Before rolling the silicon lottery dice on another gen 2 CPU, I'm planning to see how the 2700X I have behaves on C6H.
