Please help. Maximus X Code S motherboard will not boot

Hi,

I am not experienced and building my PC with the ASUS ROG MAXIMUS X CODE S LGA1151 motherboard. I installed with the following

HyperX Predator DDR4 RGC 16GB - 2 sticks
Intell Core i7-8700K Processor 6
EVGA GQ 750W


I got the CPU cable plugged from the Power Supply CPU connector to the motherboard's 8 pin EATX12V connector. I also got the 24 pin EATXPWR connected.

When I plugged and turned on the first time, the motherboard lights up. I tried to press the power button on the DeepCool Genome case and the start power button on the motherboard and NOTHING happens.

I pulled out the CPU cable to the EATX12V connector but nothing happens.

I am hoping that I did not messup something.

Please help. Any troubleshooting advise would greatly be appreciated. Let me know if photos would be needed to get the PC to bootup to check the BIOS.

Hello comicrage,

welcome. I do not have a quick solution for you sorry.
It seems you have the cables sorted out.

I can tell you what i do in such a case.

1. I unplug and plug in every cable
2. If that does not work i take the motherboard out of the case and install the bare minimum outside the case and try to start it.

I :
had once a gum aluminium wrapper stuck between my mothernboard and the case
had a screw stuck behind there
had an old PSU and i had to wiggle the CPU 8 pin to get it to work properly.

Seems like a lot of labour and chances that it helps are slim.

What code is the motherboard led giving ?

Most of the time this can point you in the direction of the problem.

Hi, the motherboard is not giving any code. The board lights up but nothing is running. I hit the start/power button and the restart button. Nothing happens. I read that if the EXTA12V connected it will boot. I removed that connection and plug it back. Still, nothing.

I would guess it's either a short somewhere or a dead PSU (assuming that you have made both of the the proper power connections to the board).

Did you try posting with only stick of memory in various dimm slots?
