I think I honestly made a mistake buying the Mother "Maximus Viii Extreme / Assembly" in November 2016. I am quite disappointed by some circumstances:

1 ° My voltage + 12V base is 12,288, AN INCREDIBLE MADNESS. I have no idea why this happens. Next, I will leave my components and images.

2 ° My STOCK voltage of my 6700k varies from 1,360-1,392 (WTF!?)

3 ° Chipset and Firmware updates are very old on the official page of asus, and there is not enough information in the forum.

4 ° The XMP format can not be activated satisfactorily since the BCLK increases and does not exactly reach the memory potential that would be 3400 mhz.

5 ° At the level of the Forum, the Bios, the Chipset and the Firmware, the differences between Extreme and Extreme / Assembly are not REALLY clarified. Everything is very confusing honestly ... Extreme and Extreme / Assembly, the same? different? or similar? WTF?

My Spects:

Bios Version: 3504.

Firmware: IDK.

Chipset: IDK.

CPU: i7 6700k. Stock.

Water Cooling: Corsair H115i.

Mother: Extreme/Assembly

Ram: G.SKILL TridentZ 8x2 3400 mhz "CL 16-18-18-38" (F4-3400C16D-16GTZ).

GPU: Asus ROG STRIX GTX1070 TI A8G Gaming.

SSD: Samsung 860 EVO 500GB.

Power Supply: EVGA Supernova 750 G3 80 Plus Gold.

Case: Phantom 820 ultra tower (Blanco).

Welcome! I'll try to answer your questions as asked. Good news, most of this is working normally.

1) Normal. Your PSU software voltages appear normal. These are software readings and a multimeter may reveal a closer reading to 12, 5 or 3.3. Either way, this is normal for any PSU and not related to the motherboard at all.

2) Abnormal. This could be caused by either the CPU or motherboard settings. It is possible your CPU is poorly binned and has a high default value. Usually, at default Auto settings or XMP you see 1.24 with a drop to 1.20 under load (LLC). If this is related to the motherboard settings you can clear it by restoring defaults in the UEFI or possible clearing the CMOS by the button. You may even need to clear and remove the battery.

3) They are not old at all. The latest bios is 3504 dated August 2017. ASUS has released 17 different bios versions for this board. At this point any oddities or compatibility issues are ironed out with the vast majority of hardware configs.

4) XMP should be working fine with G.Skill memory in that config. What speed is the memory reporting after XMP is enabled? It should be 1700. The BCLK at 100.4 is normal.

5) The Maximus VIII Extreme and Extreme/Assembly can be compared at the specification pages. Just visit asus.com or google each model name for quick results. The first difference is the look, followed by gamefirst LAN, then the inclusion of the asmedia USB 3.0 controller, hi-fi kit... etc. Compare here:

Twenty-four ASUS motherboards for the Z170 series have received updates for BIOS, Intel ME, and chipset, but not the VIII Extreme Assembly.

Anyway, BIOS 3801 from the VIII Extreme works on the VIII Extreme Assembly. ASUS Product Support says you cannot use the BIOS from another motherboard. ASUS Product Engineers says you can use the BIOS from the VIII Extreme, but still the VIII Extreme Assembly support page drivers never received an update. Whom should I believe for the BIOS update?

I thought my Technical Inquiry about the VIII Extreme Assembly BIOS would initiate someone at ASUS Support to inquire about why the VIII Extreme Assembly motherboard support page drivers are not being updated. You see how that worked out!

Stock VID can vary quite a lot on Skylake and is independent of the CPU sample. The voltages the OP is seeing is indicative of this. According to Silicon Lottery turbo frequency VID can vary as much as 1.28V to ~1.424V.
