X99 Strix boot issues

Purchased this MB and other components a little over 2 years ago. Everything has worked perfectly up until the other day. Went to re-purpose the machine and attached two additional SSD drives.

Since then, it would not boot correctly even to the initial BIOS post screen. Tried swapping around the RAM, disconnected all drives including the NVME, tried another graphics card, updated to latest BIOS, reset BIOS and even swapped to a new PSU.

The only thing that allows it to boot is running a single stick of memory in slot D1. All four sticks work fine in this configuration but adding anything additional causes issues. For example, populating D1 and B1 may boot into Windows, but the system locks up. Is there any other troubleshooting to do at this point or is the MB bad?

Quick update.

After trying the combinations on the C1, B1, D1, A1 slots, I tried one in by C1 and C2 and that worked. Not sure what's going on but some are working.

Are you following the manual in terms of RAM slots population?
