Do you like to break the rules of paintball game? MagFed markers might be for you. They're a little different from regular paintball guns, but that doesn't mean they aren't fun! You won't need any CO2 or compressed air and instead of shooting pellets out at your opponents with force behind them, these markers shoot tiny BBs — small balls made from either lead (heavier), plastic, zinc-plated steel – which fly much slower so it's easier to dodge.

What to Consider When Buying a MagFed Marker

Dual-Feed Compatibility

The first important feature about magfed paintball guns worth mentioning is dual-feed compatibility. Dual-feed compatibility means the gun can be converted from magazine fed to hopper fed, typically by removing a plate with a screw and attaching something called feedneck in its place.

This feature may seem more relevant for players who want to switch between using magazines or loaders, but don't want multiple markers on hand. Personally Paintball Advisors like my loader so this isn't as much of an issue for me - it might be different if you play tournament style where gear counts!

First Strike Compatibility

Being able to shoot First Strike rounds is the bread and butter of magfed paintball. Without them, you would simply be trading a clear field of view over the top of your marker for 10 -20 paintballs at any one time. I mean, seriously they're great!

Fully Automatic

While magfed paintball guns may not have the ammo capacity to shoot fully automatic for long, they can still prove useful in a sticky situation. Of course if your marker has dual-feed capability you can attach a loader and an elbow feed which will allow shooting full auto for more than 1 second at time. Some markers such as The Dye DAM or First Strike T15 come with their own version of drum magazines (high-capacity magazine) that hold anywhere from 100 - 325 rounds each making them effective when using their full auto capabilities.

Realism

For some, it's a love of the military that first sparked an interest in paintball. For others, their favorite movie or video game was so engrossing they wanted to feel like part of its world and play out stories similar to those on-screen.

No matter what led them there, Milsim players are now making up a larger percentage than ever before as more people want access to this exciting style which is based around scenarios from our country past wars (think Saving Private Ryan).

Affordability

You need to be careful about what type of paintball marker you buy because it can become costly quickly. There are a lot of things that go with playing, like the magazine, vest, air tank and mask which all have their own price tag so make sure you keep an eye on how much money is being spent during your search for the perfect magfed gun!
