Which socket is not showing up? Dimm.2_1 or Dimm.2_2 ? _1 is selectable for PCH or CPU while _2 is CPU only. Make sure PCIEx8_4 config in onboard devices is set to auto.

I think my Apex is a simpler setup and it has 8 drives on the MB.

Dimm._2_2 not showing. PCH selected on mb and its auto in onboard devices.

I have a Strix Z370-E which has two M2 slots. M2_1 in SATA mode, and M2_2 in PCIE mode. I have a Samsung 970 Evo 500 GB and found in the M2_1 slot the board got to 68 deg C using CPUID HW Monitor, and that was under the heat sink with the thermal pad and all. 70 deg being the optimal, I did not want to risk it so I moved it to the M2_2 slot.

Since then the operating temperature even under a heavy load has not gone over 60 deg.

My question is what is the difference in the bios settings for the M2_2 slot, you have three options, Auto, X2, and X4. I have posted previously but nobody has seemed to answer.

What happens if you swap the drives between sockets?

I have three Polaris drives, all running in the DIMM.2 slots. It's a great feature, I see no reason not to use them. Temperature shouldn't be an issue unless you have poor airflow inside the chassis.

Well, either you have a bad Dimm.2 or you are not making contact with one or more pci lanes to the cpu.
You can buy extra Dimm.2 cards on Ebay.

Which is best setup for speed for m.2 using DIMM.2 or under Shield??

I'm looking at upgrading my current system to...

ASUS Rampage VI Extreme MB + Intel 7900X 10-Core CPU + Corsair H150i Hybrid Cooler

Storage ideally for system drive 280GB-512Gb & Game Drive 2TB+

I'm hoping a Intel 900p PCI-E x4 480Gb for system drive bootable in PCIe x4 slot, and 2 x 1TB Samsung 970 Pro on both Sides of DIMM.2 with heatsinks and thermal pads , in RAID 0 preferable CPU mode ( VROC ) not PCH mode as PCH shares bandwidth with PCIex4 slot

is VROC in Raid0 for Samsung 970 Pro m.2 possible or need VROC key ?

    Thanks
    Corsair 900D
