Just built a new system, fresh windows install and everything. No overclock, patched up to latest bios step by step. Only thing I've changed from default in the bios are the memory settings reccomeneded in the sticky. I've run the system with a Phenom II x4 965, G-Skill Ripjaws 1600 RAM, a MSI TWIN FROZR 6870 and had the same problem with any combination of those. I returned the mobo I had for a different one (open box tested working) and am having the same issue.

As best I can tell it seems to happen during network usage. I was able to run prime95 and 3dmark11 with no problem but when i try to play Black-Ops online or even browse the web after 0-20 minutes the system will freeze (image frozen on screeen non responsive) but it doesn't blue screen so I don't get the dump file to troubleshoot. I tried a PCI NIC and disabled the onboard one as the problem seems to only happen when I try to do something on the internet (browsing the web, playing blackops), but after just a minute or so of gameplay, I got a steam message from my cousin and it froze.

Any ideas or insight would be greatly appreciated. Spent about 4 days now trying to figure this thing out and I'm fresh out of ideas.

A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station…

Just the generic event id 41. There isn't a BSOD when it freezes. The system just stops dead and displays the last frame that was displayed. So far as I can tell it's not just a vid crash but the whole system freezing. Latest beta nvid drivers are installed (the 295.51 ones).

Well I'll try throwing my 460 on again and see if it freezes too. I'll let you know after I test it.

If hardware is ok. that should not happened.. (gpu)

I come across it a lot, but heavy OC

According to your screenies, your memory timings are running on auto, which is a no no.
Several things that I recommend:
1. Do not use a bios higher than 0705 for your 965
2. Completely clear the CMOS, then reset your bios settings
3. Bump up your DRAM voltage a notch or two
4. Try a higher CPU/NB voltage, in the 1.25-1.30v range

Could be an issue with your GPU, try increasing your GPU voltage if you can.

not using the 965. I'm running the fx8150 what bios would you recommend for that? I'll change the mem timings to manual. Normally I would but I was following Raja's guide and there was nothing there about changing those from auto.

Sorry, I miised seeing the FX-8150 listed in your sig.
After clearing the CMOS and setting your memory timings in the bios, then try my #3 & 4 recommendations.
I see your running the same model of memory, but unmatched sets, another no no.
Try gaining stability with only one 2x4GB matched set, if needed, increase the NB HT voltage to 1.25v.

Alright I tried with one 4gb stick of ram @1.675v and the NB at 2.5v it seemed to be a bit more stable but still froze. I think I'm going to try returning the mem that I have and try either a quad kit or a different dual kit. When I do that I'll update the results. Thanks for the insight, more to come later.
