ROG Maximus X Hero Q-Code "40" Always Show at the Mobo 7-Segment Display

    Hi ASUS ROG members,

I bought an ROG Maximus X Hero motherboard and is curious about the Q-code shown at the motherboard 7-segment display. Each time I power up my PC, the Q-code shows "40". I restarted my PC and the Q-code shows "A0". Please advise :

    1. What is Q-code "40". This code is not shown at the ASUS mobo User Guidebook Q-Code section that came with the mobo.

    2. If this Q-code "40" is a normal condition?

    Thank you.

    Regards,
    Arry_Valendra

After a fresh boot Q code AO is displayed, after resuming from sleep it is typically 30 on Intel desktops, 40 on HEDT systems, I am assuming it is a code designating resuming from a sleep state, I am just not sure which sleep state but yes it is normal

Q Code 40 in startup from when you did a "shutdown" in windows is normal. Windows 10 with fast boot enabled loads from "cache" on the disk making it faster. Qcode 40 is letting you know that the computer woke from hibernated state or what it thinks was hibernated. A0 will be the result from doing a restart from Windows. Both codes are normal depending on the scenario. There is nothing wrong.
