    The Spectre patch would impact these performances

    Yes! Look like 4K read and write improved as well with 02000050 microcode on lastest Windows Kernel.


    Intel 600P 1TB NVMe connected via PCH M.2 as system drive.

    So i still didnt get it!
    WHAT Should i Do ?
    iv just assembled my New 7820x-Rampage VI APEX today and now im with Bios 0601 that it came with and my microcode revision as i checked in AIDA64 CPUID shows > 30h
    and hell 5 days ago my 6850k Died for no reason after that Freaking ms kb4100347 update that was released 1 month ago (and yes i uninstalled that update on my6850K and i got my overclocks back BUT I DONT KNOW WHY MY CPU DIED 5days AGO FOR NO REASON !!!!!!!!!!!!!! )
    so i migrated to this x299 platform with the hope that everything is normal and safe here and no need to worry about overclocks and performance Dropping issues

    SO HELL WHY ???!!!! why are they doing this S!!!!?and i want to update my bios on this mb now with the newest win10 build ( non insider Or insider) What should i do to not loosing any performance for my shiny new cpu and platform i want the MaXimum performance and Numberss in my applications and benchmarks with my 7820x !!!!!!!!!!!

    WHICH BIOS WHICH MICROCODE AND WHICH WIN10 VERSIONS (BUILDS) ??????

    There is no report with the Microsoft update and death CPU, simple coincidence

    If you do not want to lose performance with Windows 10 1803/1809, in the registry you have to find (or create) these keys and adjust like this for disable the Spectre patch

    @restsugavan, I tested the microcode 50, with a setting of 100 in the bios, I have a 105° TJMAX
    But in idle for example I always have the temperature of the cores higher than with the microcode 43 or 49 (same with 99 in bios and 104° TJMax)
    Will this microcode "consume more in idle?
    In load, the temperatures are similar

    Yes, Master tistou77, Thank for sharing. 02000050 MCU was semilar with 0200004D MCU but better on strorage 4K performance.

    After testing a long period on 0200004D microcode. It depend on what Windows 10 Kernel we tested.
    Before 18252 Insider Preview , @idle state ( F5 Load Optimized default XMP set 3200 16-18-18-38 2T )
    The kernel of Windows performance was the same with October 2018 official version (17763.1) .
    Idle state of 7980XE temp was increased little bit (Kraken NXZT 62 AIO used) .

    *
    After 18252 to 18267 *before deploying 02000050 MCU 7980XE temp decrease same as 02000049 (43)

    Note : 02000049 MCU was Windows Kernel forced*every system deployed MCU version older than 02000043 used by default during
    Its session.

    After deploying 02000050 MCU my 7980XE on lastest 18267 kernel performance improvement was little bit.
    Idle state (F5 Load Optimized default XMP 3200 16-18-18-38 2T) temp was equally first paragraph.

    It need Windows Insider kernel that Optimized performance for same as 0200004D.

    Maybe next week 18272 Build many people on Redmond CA will address these issues soon.
    The temperature increases came from some services running on background process.
    I think we just waiting for Windows team to fixed.**

    I did all the tests with Windows 10 RS4 (17763)
    So, in idle consumption is higher with the microcode 4D or 50 (compared to 43)
    I did not check this consumption in my tests, I will look

    Quick heads-up:

    I noticed when overclocking my ram that with the latest 1503 also patched with the microcode I lose 50% bandwith when testing with aida64 going from DDR4 4000 to DDR4 4200.
    We are talking roughly 123GB/s to just 85GB/s going up one DRAM divider.

    But I knew on a previous bios when I put up the former world record in memory read bandwith I had over 130GB/s with the DDR4 4200 divider. So I check the bios I used back then. It was 1102 eventhough with the first bad iteration of meltdown/spectre microcode. So I downgraded to 1004 to get rid of the patches all together and voila. Back to 130GB/s with DDR4 4200.

    So I don't know why but the latest bios 1503 definitely has an issue with everything DDR4 4200 Mhz and above dropping bandwith in the range of 50%.

    It's funny because in the bios notes it always says DRAM compatibility improved etc. if it means you drop all the performance sure more kits are compatible.

    Maybe those number came from Windows Kernel itself. The solution to mitigation spectre and meltdown fix need both hardware and software sides fine tuning
    together. Just wait.
