That's where I was with WinXP. Then Vista. Even after methodically killing processes, deleting files, hacking the Registry, applying all sorts of clever secrets learned from the pro IT guys at work. And by all accounts things got worse in subsequent WinOS versions, Win8 was notoriously full of Microsoft "telemetry" (spyware and malware), Win10 is even more infamous and treacherous.
Rollback to older WinOS when you must. Install a linux for everything else. Or even just try out some "LiveUSB" distros without needing to do a fixed install.
The choice is inevitable and the day is already coming for you, lol, why keep swearing at Windows and why keep putting off the alternatives?"All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated and well supported in logic and argument than others." - Douglas Adams

I've used Linux off and on for at least 10 years, probably longer. Linux Mint is my favorite. The UI has a polished look and feel to it that reminds me a lot of Windows 7, and setting up Linux has never been easier than it is today. It has come a very long way in a short time. I like it just fine as an ordinary basic OS for stuff like web surfing and email, but find it too restrictive to realize any joy in using it. Being a PC gamer for 20+ years, (since the beginning,) and then morphing into an overclocking/benching addict over the last 10 years, Linux has nothing to offer me in terms of my main hobby. It's absolutely worthless for what I enjoy most.
In the past year or two, gaming on Linux is finally gaining some serious traction and isn't nearly as crappy as it has been for as long as I can remember. But, gaming is something I spend little time on any more. I still like it, but not as much as I used to and my interest is limited to FPS titles. But Linux gaming is almost to the point now that I could probably get by as a happy gamer running Linux as my only OS. If not yet, it is definitely getting close to that point, thanks to the amount of focus Steam has devoted to making it successful.
I totally get what you're saying and almost completely agree with it, except for the part that moving to Linux exclusiely would ultimately mark the death of what I love most about computers... overclocking and benching. There is just nothing there because Linux developers aren't into my hobby. Linux development is their hobby, LOL. Really basic overclocking and tuning tools are all but non-existent and the few I have seen that do exist totally suck. Same is true of benchmarking software.
Linux is definitely a better OS than Windows 10. The restrictiveness associated with using it really sucks. Most of the software for Linux sucks. Free is a good price, but you get what you pay for to some extent. If I decide to give up oerclocking and benching some day, I may kick Windows to the curb for good. Micro$haft definitely deserves to be left behind for giving us nothing but garbage from Windows 8 forward. The move to an atrociously butt-ugly cartoon UI, with a bloated look and feel with crappy UWP apps and the tiled "Modern" motif is more than enough reason to loathe Windoze OS X, LOL.
I do still love Windows 7 and will continue using it until there are no longer any drivers available to make it work. "Micro$loth support" is totally worthless, so I don't care about that and their support has zero bearing on my willingness to continue using it. I dual boot with Windoze OS X only because Fire Strike scores higher on Windows 10 and DX12 is required for Time Spy and I need those benchmarks for HWBOT points. Windows 7 pretty much rapes Windoze OS X in all other benchmarks.
So, ultimately you may be right. Unless they make drastic changes to the path they are on--definitely won't hold my breath waiting for that to happen--there probably will be a day of reckoning when I am no longer willing to accept any more of the filth from the Redmond Retards. I'm just not sure what I will do at that point. I may just stop caring about computers and spend my time and money on something else. I may end up with nothing but a junky little $300 piece of crap laptop with Linux for web browsing and email because I truly hate using smartphones and tablets for that purpose.Last edited by Mr. Fox; 10-05-2018 at 06:22 AM.

Hi,
Yeah win-7 hasn't gone anywhere still most stable version ever as long as one culls through updates that is but it's a lot easier to do in 7.
Still over a year left of extended support I've never left it
It's always been a daily driver
10 is nothing but a toy which is mostly one of those annoying toys

WOW JUST WOOWW matee i cant believie this is just happened even to a x299 Platform Holly coww Claps for Intel and microsoft WOWW congratulations Intel u finally scrwed up and cock-blocked overclock YOUR x299 LATEST Extreme platform EVENN TOOO
and this is intersting to know that for your Snario Removing the update HASNT WORKED !!!!!!!!!!!! and you just had to reinstall win10 2016 and in that case it worked (because in My case uninstaling/reinstalling the windows 10 1803 didnt worked and i had to just remove the micorocode by removing the kb4100347 update ( i didnt try installing win 10 2016 to see if it solves or not) )
and Dude i have to inform you that their "security" excuse is A HUGE LIE BIGGER THAN THE EARTH IS FLAT, this has been just an intel attack to its extreme platforms to force them buy Upcoming CPU AND PLATFORMS and they dont give sling fuk to their users and how much they have paid and our wallet
