Recently i was itching to make something new for my PC. From rigging more RGB's to figuring out some small in case LCD display i stumbled upon some materials about ambient lighting.... and here it is! A quick teaser trailer of capabilities
Figured out, that while making this, its good to write some things down, so in the end a semi-guide was compiled. If you want to watch the full version (warning, its long, i talk way too much), i direct you here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBMm1tInv4Q
For essentials (the tl;dw), here we go. Partlist: Arduino Nano v3 (clone) USB Mini B cable WS2812B Strips 60LED/m 5V power supply (amperage depends on # of LEDs, 1 LED = 0.060A) PSU Cable + Connector (depends on picked PSU) 470ohm resistor, 1000uF 16V electrolityc capacitor Bunch of AWG16 and AWG22 cables JST-SM 3-pin connectors (malea and female) 5/5.08mm screw terminals (double and triple) Plastic enclosure Universal prototype board
Where to buy? Local electornic stores, aliexpress, banggood, ebay. The total ends up being at 35USD-50USD depending where you buy (shipping or not) and how much you already have in house (its intermediate difficulty project, so prior DIY experience is expected).
Order of operations: After assembling Ambi Light according to schematic plug it (arduino) in to PC Install the driver Open Arduino IDE and upload Adalight sketch firmware Open Prismatik software and go through Configuration Wizard Done!
Also, if you are owner of Dell S2716DG monitor, here is a customised Prismatik profile for 74LED/m strips with pixel aligned light zones https://pastebin.com/d5RRPeJQ. Needs to be saved in C:\Users\\Prismatik\Profiles folder and then it can be selected in "profiles" section of Prismatik, the content of paste needs to be saved as *.ini file
