For people affected, please make sure to take ownership of your mcupdate_genuineintel.dll in the System32 folder first and then delete that file. Right click that file and edit the permission and owner in the security tab.

I have verified it worked for me on 1908 Windows 10. If any new Microsoft update install it again just delete it. This is the fastest and most harmless way.

Easier just to uninstall the microcode update then hide it so it doesn’t come back.*

It is totally fine. All it does is remove the latest Intel spectre/meltdown protection. You will still have the BIOS nicrocode protection as long as you are using the latesr BIOS.

No need to keep it, unless you really do not want to overclock then yeah put them back in there.

Also it seems like ASUS will not update the microcode any further. The latest in xx02 Beta bIos is 2F. while Intel has already moved on to 31. I am fairly certain ASUS is just gonna let this tank.

Any news with the new BIOS? Version 9001 goes really bad in overclock.

The latest bios I got now is the 1903 bios from Asus it has the 2E micro code for Broadwell E

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4x...w?usp=drivesdk

Let me know if this works any better for overclocking then the 9001 bios..
