Hi there, thanks for posting this.
When I updated the Maximus X Hero drivers posted a week or so ago, it killed my Sonic Studio and Radar programs. I uninstalled them given they weren't working.
What do I actually gain by reinstalling them? ie, what do Sonic Studio and Sonic Radar do that the Realtek app doesn't do?

Sonic Radar helps you detect enemies but in some cases has been known to be detected as a cheat and could possibly get you banned so I don't use it.
Sonic Studio is nice to have as you can adjust the effects and adjust the equalizer for your own personal sound preference.
What I'd try is uninstalling the Realtek driver, run CCleaner to clean the registry then install the latest Realtek driver that supports sonic radar and sonic studio.

Thanks Nate. Based on your descriptions, doesn't sound like I really need Radar and Studio (I'm no audiophile), so I'll just stick with the Realtek drivers that were on the Asus support page. Appreciate the explanation, thanks a lot!

Is there a way to make the new Realtek Audio Console be added to the taskbar? (bottom right) The old one used to be there.

Ok, so I updated the drivers to these and all is well and good. I tried sonic studio as well, but it added nothing of value so I removed it.
Now for my 5.1 experimentation (Via optical cable hooked to the motherboard optical out)..
If I click on DTS or Dolby in this menu, and test, my reciever lights up as "decode" (as it did with my last computer with a full soundcard in it) and plays the sounds out of the correct surround speakers.

However, thats the only time it actual indicates its in 5.1. I dont have the surround sound test option as I did when I had the analog cables hooked in.
When I went to the "sound options" menu with analog, I was able to enter the menu for "configure" that takes you to that 5.1 speaker diagram and so forth, which is not even an option for me under optical cables. Am I missing something?

EDIT
After a bunch of research it seems this mobo and most others for that matter can't output a true digital 5.1 signal (and this doesn't have Dolby or DTS). Is this a correct statement? I have an older creative sound blaster recon 3d card that I know does , but I was really hoping to use onboard , but I guess that's not possibe?Last edited by Guitarmageddon888; 12-16-2018 at 04:24 AM.

hello...
My pc was built with Maximus XI Apex mobo.... it seems that the codec used in this mobo doesn't have nahimic / sonic studio / sonic radar features.. on the asus driver support website it says realtek with nahimic, but when i installed it the audio console(RPC error), sonic studio, sonic radar won't run..
does anybody have the solution?
