I noticed ASUS rolled back their last set of Intel drivers with the MAXIMUS X HERO (WI-FI AC). Anyone experiencing issues?

I started having issues with my Logitech C930e webcam and other USB devices not initializing (frequently causing applications to hang), but then I upgraded MEI and Chipset from the latest drivers on this thread, and now everything is working perfectly again. Also, the ASUS distributed SATA drivers installed the RAID version of RST instead of iaAHCIC. I'm not using RAID.

    Weird

What do you mean rolled back? i think they just updated a bunch of drivers on their support page, but didnt even use current releases. The one on the support page is from sept/october 2018. I believe the prior version is 10.1.17903.8106 before this latest release. I wouldn't even consider looking at the motherboard support page at this point. Thankful we at least have the ROG forum to help translate some of the inaccuracies in drivers they put up there. They've even posted a sound driver thats irrelevant to most of us.

Ah yes, the newer one is still available, but like you said they're not using the current releases. Well, I'm thankful for this forum, because originally I came here for Realtek drivers and then I was very pleased when I saw this Intel thread. Especially since the latest Intel drivers here fixed a really annoying issue for me.

the last SATA driver caused me tons of micro freeze in games and huge spikes in DPC latency tests.
edit: i guess it was that, or it was the realtek driver i uninstalled at the same time but i didn't had the problem before with that driver.

    Hi all.

Now i got a little confused about install drivers. So my quick question.

Should I install the drivers from the official ASUS website or better if I install it from this forum? I have an Asus Maximus XI hero mobo.

Second question: If i dont use raid setup do i need to install the INTEL RAPID STORAGE DRIVER?

    Thanks.

well i would always install whatever was tested/certified/signed by ASUS, not the initial vendor itself.
As for the Intel RST, it performs as a driver for your setup even if you dont have a RAID system, so i guess why not.

Any additional input from others is appreciated.

If you only have NVME then rst is not needed. However since you do have sata drives you would need.

Thanks for your reply. The thing why i am asking because when i did freshly installed windows the following problem showed up:
After installed the windows everything was working fine regarding install the drivers untill i installed the rapid driver. After it asks for restart the pc which is fine. But when the system restarts the system boot time is very -very long and when finally the system booted the D: drive (WD Black HDD 2tb) disappear. When I shut down the pc and i do cold boot the system boot properly and also I can see my hdd. If I reboot the computer it happens again. When I finish installing the geforce driver it works everything fine even the reboot as well. BUT if I do ddu uninstaller to install another version of Geforce driver i got again the same boot problem as long I install the gf driver.

Anyone has any suggestion?Or what can cause this?

Ps. The windows is on samsung 970evo m.2 and the hdd is only for storage.

In the Asus support website the Bios now is changed to MEUpdateTool.

What is this program do? Should I install or keep the latest Bios?
