PC making extra beep on startup

I just removed cleaned and reinstalled my graphics card GTX980, when I started up the system I got the normal post beep and then a long beep with code b2 displayed on the board during the beep.

My PC seems to be running fine but I'm concerned what the beep may be trying to tell me.

When I first turned my PC back on after cleaning the card I forgot to connect the 2x8 pin plugs and the system made a long beep and it displayed on the monitor a message to connect the power cables to the video card so I shut down and reconnected them but, I have reinserted the video card half a dozen times but can not get rid of the beep.

I removed the video card and ran the monitor of the onboard video and there was no extra beep so I'm fairly certain it relates to the video card.

Edit: After turning my PC off for a while then back on it's either changed the beep or I wasn't hearing it properly but now I head two short beeps.

Have you tried GPU-Z to verify PCI-E 3.0 is working?

I have done some testing and have found it's only doing it when connected to the monitor via a displayport cable, when running through the dvi cable I get no extra beeps, I tried two different displayport cables and both give the extra beeps, strange that it was working fine no beeps until I pulled the card in and out.

The post below talks about the problem and there is a youtube video with the same sound at 1.39.

Edit: If I plug the displayport cable into one of the 2 other sockets It makes 1 extra beep rather than 2.

I know this is an old thread but this problem is still a current one. I had the same problem with my ASUS GTX 1060 plugged into the monitor via DisplayPort. It gave one long beep with 4 short beeps only on 2 occasions about 2 days apart some 2 weeks ago, but the system went on to boot up and bring up windows after the beeps. So I thought that was strange. Later on about a week later my system would not boot up at all, I got Q-Code 00 with CPU fan running full speed. After some troubleshooting I discovered that pulling out the DP cable the system would boot up OK. Searching on the internet I found that there are some DP cables that do not follow the proper VESA specification for DP 1.2 and that is not to provide 3.3v to pin 20. I did some testing with my multimeter and found that my DP cable did in fact have 3.3v on pin 20. So I purchased a new DP cable that is the proper cable.

Also, there is a firmware update for nVidia cards "NVIDIA GRAPHICS FIRMWARE UPDATE TOOL FOR DISPLAYPORT 1.3 AND 1.4 DISPLAYS" which is supposed to fix this problem and is available from nVidia here:

    https://www.nvidia.com/object/nv-uefi-update-x64.html

I just ran the tool on this system, which has an ASUS GTX 1080ti and the tool found that the firmware needed to be updated, and this is a newer card than the one that is in my other system that had the problem above. I am going to update the firmware on that system with the GTX 1060 later on today.

I think that this is an important update and encourage anyone with an nVidia GPU to run the tool to at least find if their firmware needs updating. The tool checks the firmware and then you have a choice to let it update the firmware if it's needed.

If i understand correctly you have your iphone connected to your PC via USB, which when you reboot it turns the power to the USB port off and on, which makes your iphone beep. This is normal. It should make the same beep sound as when you connect the iphone to a charger.
