So are you missing a lot by going with code versus the Apex? It seems the code is available in the USA, thus avoiding any *potential* warranty issues? Shame they haven't been extremely clear from a marketing standpoint on this one.

That all depends on what the use case is. Both the Apex and Gene have their place, where concurrent domains are running far above what's conventional with ambient, however, beyond these use cases and relevant feature sets (LN2 Mode) there's not a great deal for the daily drive that cannot be done on other Maximus boards.

The two DIMM trace layout allows for extra legroom when paired with the right CPU and modules, but equally, the Maximus four DIMM boards are no slouch there, either (when paired with a good CPU and memory modules). TLDR; what is it about the Apex that appeals to you above the other SKU.

    Quick update,

So I bought the board from UK
    https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus-...mb-6dh-as.html
    great price and reputable company
it was 266.66 GBP without VAT (because I'm from Canada but I gotta pay taxes at border)

It was shipped with DHL Express for 33 GBP in Canada in around 2-3 days with an excellent service (Automatic txt msg update without even subscribing somewhere)

When it passed the border I had to pay Canadian and Quebec taxes(around 15% + 16$cad of fees)

All in all, great price and I ended up paying around the same price as a Formula here in Canada (I would have paid only 5% taxes on newegg for the formula)

At page 10, we have an ASUS rep replying....(my bad you posted in the first 5 pages, but never told us when it will came out in NA like we asked, answer was "never" i guess)

Some people like to spend big money on stuff they might not 100% need. I went all out with this system, trident royal Z 4600CL18 1.45v and 9900k of course.
Yeah maybe the code or formula would have been great, they look amazing. My twin just bought a formula to pair a 9900k and the look is amazing. I was about to go gigabytes or evga but i didnt want to mess with another BIOS(asus best bios)

You guys kept the secret on your new VRM style, 4phases on every board you sell in North America except the way too big and amazing extreme(5 phases). I understand your 4 and 5 phases are way superior than a real 4 or 5 phases but you never really told us. You kept secret for 4 months that you would not sell in North America the GENE and the APEX.

I will run my 9900k naked die with 3 360mm rad. I might try to go subzero once for fun with my homemade phase changer.

I think ASUS have too many SKUs, prime/tuf/strix/rog. and multiples boards in those sub-brands. Its really hard to choose like somewhere in the middle... make less board with better quality maybe?(talking about lower tier board here)

Looks like Maximus X Apex is going to be the collectors item as the X shaped motherboard design has been dropped in the Maximus XI Apex.

The X shape RGB glow against a white case interior like the NZXT S340 Elite is unequalled.

I did like the glow behind the MB too on my IX Apex. I haven't opened my XI Apex yet. Does it have that backlit glow too ? I kind of took some stuff for granite when ordering my XI Apex. Not that it's going to matter but you get used to some things for sure.
