To be able to downgrade, the SVN (Security Version Number) and VCN (Version Control Number) of your current firmware must be identical on the firmware to which you want to downgrade. It's an Intel security :

    11.8.65.3572 :
    - SVN : 3
    - VCN : 281

    11.8.60.3561 :
    - SVN : 3
    - VCN : 280

    11.8.55.3510 :
    - SVN : 3
    - VCN : 279
It did not work indeed. Unfortunately...
Any other ideas? I feel really sad about this.. (
What else can I do Mokichu?

With the latest Intel ME firmware 11.8.65.3572, are you using the latest Intel MEI drivers 1904.12.0.1208 WHQL ?

If not, install it (you can too update your other drivers) : https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthrea...299-Z370-Z390)

Are you using the latest BIOS 1901 for your Maximus X Hero ?

If not, install it : https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthrea...-ROG-Maximus-X
Yes, I've tried the latest MEI drivers, even some old ones the I found on Intel's site for this version of firmware, I tried 11.8.60.3561 and the drivers that I had before the update, version 11.8.55.3510 also from Inte's site. The system is not as fluid and responsive as it used to be on firmware 11.8.55.3510. I feel a delay in it's responsivness when entering windows and apps. It takes a half a second more to respond. I also tried the new bios 1901, on this one I can't set my Corsair memories to 3333 Mhz (15-16-16-36-iT) anymore, It does maximum 3300 Mhz with this latency. And another issue that is found, the sound produced from the sound card is less loud now, also the stereocrosstalk is reduced. I don't feel it's bassy sound like before. Also, I tried the latest ASUS drivers posted on 03.04.2019, version 6.0.1.8468. I guess now I understand why ASUS didn't update the Management Engine firmware.. but I did
I really want to roll back to the original firmware ASUS updated with bios 1704.
I really liked how the sistem was working before. Please find a solution for me!

So as he stated, yes it does not seem possible. However I did notice this, but it seems like it could be risky and brick the board? It may be doable however. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Could be worth researching.

In the event in which the usage of Intel FWUpdate tool is not possible, you can try to upgrade/downgrade the (CS)ME firmware manually. Such cases include downgrading to Engine firmware which violate SVN, VCN or PV, repairing a corruption/problem etc. To upgrade/downgrade/repair manually, you need first & foremost to have read/write access to the Engine firmware region of the system's SPI/BIOS chip. To check if your FD is locked or to attempt to unlock it, follow the [Guide] Unlock Intel Flash Descriptor Read/Write Access Permissions for SPI Servicing. Once you have read/write access to the Engine firmware region of your system's SPI/BIOS chip, you can use any general purpose firmware flasher software such as Intel Flash Programming Tool, AMI AFU, Flashrom etc, which directly reads/writes the system's SPI/BIOS chip firmware. Before flashing, you must make sure that the Engine firmware region to be flashed back is Configured (EXTR) for your specific system via Intel Flash Image Tool (FIT). In order to do that, follow the [Guide] Clean Dumped Intel Engine (CS)ME/(CS)TXE Regions with Data Initialization. Never flash RGN or 3rd-party EXTR firmware to the Engine firmware region of the system's SPI/BIOS chip without first configuring them for your specific system (EXTR) via FIT. Since general purpose firmware software do not upgrade/downgrade/repair the Engine firmware region of the system's SPI/BIOS chip via the Engine co-processor itself, they are not restricted by the SVN, VCN and PV security measures. As long as you have read/write access to the Engine firmware region of the system's SPI/BIOS chip and a DATA Configured (EXTR) Engine firmware image, they should accomplish the desired action.

I updated my Maximus X to the newest me fw (11.8.65.3590) and my G.Skill Memory had no problem setting to xmp (16-16-16-36 2N) I also had no issues overclocking the memory to 3600 (17-18-18-38 2N) and was able to hit 5ghz at 1.28 seemed fine too me. Also my bios is 1901 and the mei driver is 1914.12.0.1256.

Me is downgradable, but is blocked by hidden bios setting "me reflash"(maximus x hero wi-fi).
I succeeded with help of "Win_raid" and a lot of patience and time.
