Maximus XI Hero does not recognize bootable SSD

I am building a new system, and moving a Samsung primary SSD (Win 10 digital license) from the old system. BIOS sees the drive, but says Not Bootable. I also have a Samsung M.2 (new, empty) which will eventually become the primary drive. Also, I don't have wired internet connectivity from the motherboard. Can anyone help?

Please list complete specs, what system was the OS installed on? Is it a UEFI install?

Of course a fresh install on the 970 is your best option then copy files from your SATA SSD but you can try a couple settings in the bios

Try changing CSM to enabled if it is disabled
Boot device control to UEFI and Legacy

The board requires the LAN driver to be installed - it is not automatically picked up by Win10. The driver can be found on your disk that came with the board.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Now to use Samsung's utility to copy the old drive onto the 970 Pro NMVE, test out internet access and DisplayPort connections, and to figure out how to get a RAID 0 volume from the old system into the new system without losing anything.

All good buddy, let me know how your new build turns out once done.

The old raid volume can be cloned onto a single disk. EaseUS Todo backup should do the task.

    Enjoy

Moving right along. Unfortunately, the original Windows version on the drive is an OEM version of Windows 8.1 Home, and can't be re-activated, So off to the Windows Store I go. I need to move the RAID 0 volume intact - take the two HDD's from the old system and plug them into the new motherboard. Without losing any data...

Dave ebay is your friend when it comes to Win10 licenses. They are apparently legit as they are pulled from dead machines. I have bought a few in my time and all have passed Microsoft Verification. Last three that I bout cost me less than $10 in total.
