GL504GM Keyboard backlight issue
Hello guys,
I have a GL504GM laptop (ROG Strix Scar II) and I have an issue with keyboard backlight.
When a laptop is plugged to external power source everything works properly, I can turn off/on backlight using Fn + arrow up/down.
The issue occurs when a laptop is using battery power. After 1 minute of not using a laptop, keyboard backlight is turning off. Fn + arrow up is not working, pressing any key is not working, only method to turn backlight back on is to open ROG Aura, apply changes and closing it. It's really inconvenient.Last edited by INZdk; 11-17-2018 at 06:17 PM.

Same problem here, had a lot of problems also (boot loop, stuck pixels and other stuffs)
I just noticed that if you are unplugged, and the Aura Core software is open, the backlit works normally, but i really can't accept this as a solution.
For sure, the problem is the Aura Core software.Last edited by Sephai2020; 11-05-2018 at 08:36 AM.

My laptop is plugged in 99% of the time. My keyboard was working perfectly on battery one month ago. Tonight I was on battery, keyboard went off and will not turn back on by touching any key as previously would. The only thing that has changed in the last month is Windows updates and Asus did update ROG Aura Core App, in windows store.

I am also encountering the same issue on ASUS ROG STRIX GL503GE.
I just bought it two weeks ago. However the problem was not there at first.
If you open task manager and END TASK for AURA CORE, the keyboard light will not turn off after 60 seconds.
One more thing to notice is that if after 60 seconds of inactivity, the issue we are encountering, i can see that there is no background process by AURA in TASK MANAGER.
Hope ASUS gives some permanent solution for the issue.

Allowing Micro$lop to update things willy-nilly whenever it wants to is a recipe for distaster, especially where drivers and software/apps are concerned. Best to disable automatic updates of drivers and apps if you want to have a consistent user experience.
You should be able to remove the problematic new version of Aura and install a known good version.WRAITH // EVGA Z490 Dark K|NGP|N | Core i9-10900KF @ 5.6GHz | Optimus Signature Water Block on Bare Die | EVGA RTX 3090 K|NGP|N | 16GB Patriot Viper 4 Blackout DDR4 @ 4600 | EVGA SuperNOVA 1600 P2 | Hailea HC-500A (1/2HP~790W) Chiller | MO-RA3 360 Pro Radiator | Dual XSPC Photon 270 | Windows 7 Ultimate > Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2019 > Windows 10 Enterprise 2004 Cancer Edition > Linux Mint

Uninstalling Aura Core helped!
I have uninstalled aura core and restarted with battery mode still on and now the keyboard works as it should. I don't need to change my color layout :P

Hello there,
I have exact same issue on my STRIX SCAR II GL504GM. (Windows 10, 64bit)
RGB on battery went off after a 1min of idleness and was unable to come back again, rarely with AURA and most of the time the restart was needed.
Tried all of the ideas from above, including drivers update and clean Windows installation. Nothing worked.
But I think I found solution (at least for me and for now, 2nd day and it's working).
During the battery, I manually turned off the RGB with Fn+arrows, after a couple of minutes I tried to turn RGB back again with Fn+arrow and surprisingly to me it worked.
Now is the 2nd day that I haven't turned off the RGB on battery and it does not go off. I hope it stays permanent.
