Lightbulb i7 8700k overclock - AI Suite or BIOS settings?

    Hey guys,

It's been a while since I overclocked my i7 6850K all manually via ASUS BIOS.

How shall I now go on with my new 1151 sockel i7 8700K. Does the new BIOS version provide an easy overclocking guide? Or does the latest version of AI Suite provide a better overclocking solution? I've heard that AI Suite sets v-core often much too high, specially in automatic mode. That true?

You guys could give any recommandations? Or BIOS starting points?

Also what GHz did you achieve with good temps?

    Asus ROG STRIX Z390-F GAMING S1151v2 Z390/DDR4/ATX
    Intel Core i7 8700K 6x 3.70GHz So.1151 WOF
Noctua NH-D15S CPU can with dual fans
    64GB G.Skill Trident Z silber/rot DDR4-3200 DIMM CL14 Dual Kit
    1000GB Samsung 970 Pro M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 x4 32Gb/s
    500 GB Samsung 960 Evo M.2
500 GB Samsung 860 Pro SSD
NVIDIA GTX 1060 with 4 GB

Thank you very much in advance.

    Best,
    Alex

Hello ALexauwa, BIOS is always a better option to overclock your system. AI suite is really handy to test out an overclock. Once you know what works then go into the BIOS and fine tune your system.

The principles have not changed all that much, nor have the different BIOS settings since your 6850K, as always make sure you keep an eye on your temps.
To help us help you - please provide as much information about your system and the problem as possible.

Thank you. Does AI Suite write straight into the BIOS so that I can save it as BIOS profile? Can I then easly uninstall AI Suite and keep the settings? I am asking as I heard about people having problem uninstalling the AI Suite. Thanks, Alex
