Realtek Audio Software

Z390 Maximus XI Hero

When installing the drivers for the onboard sound I noticed that "Realtek Audio Control" was trying to be installed from the Windows store but the install would not complete. It just gets stuck and all you can do is cancel it / uninstall.

Is this app required for anything or is there an alternative to it for tweaking sound settings?

Thanks homies! 😄

I'd avoid the UWP app version if at all possible, but the Z390 drivers available for download on your Maximus XI Hero may not cooperate with that. The legacy Realtek Control Panel is better, as are all legacy apps compared with the dumbed-down UWP garbage.

Perhaps try using a Maximus X Hero Realtek driver and see if that works better. If it works, there is no reason to care about using a newer audio driver.

Where would I get the legacy control panel? I kind of figured it gets installed with the driver?

Second link should have it. First link is the problematic UWP filth.
