Setting up AiMesh with AC-5300 and AC-RT-88

Hi,

I have two routers, the current RT-AC88 that has been in my system for a year or so and a new AC-5300 that I acquired. I currently have the RT-AC88 as the primary router connected to the internet modem and have the AC-5300 connected via Ethernet as the AiMesh device.

My question is does it make any difference which modem is which in an AiMesh configuration? Currently most of the wireless devices in the system seem to be on the RT-AC88 with just a few being found connected to the AC-5300.

The most powerful device should be set as router, in your case the AC-5300 and the lesser device as a node

Thanks broncogr. I'll find some time when the kiddies aren't on the network and reconfigure it that way.
