G20 Upgraded with ASUS RTX 2080 Turbo

Might be helpful so I share it here. I replaced my GTX 1080ti FE 2-weeks ago with Asus RTX 2080 Turbo, it works perfectly with 180+230w bricks, no jumper switch needed.

In my country this Asus card is really overpriced, it`s around $1200 USD for ASUS RTX 2080 Turbo and $1700 USD for 2080 Ti Turbo, planned to buy the Ti before but I am not sure RTX 2080 Ti will be 100% stable in my G20ci, so I decided to get the non Ti .

Tear it Down to replace the thermal Paste

It`s Binned A chip inside, although this turbo is non OC version.

Fit perfectly

Manage to OCed this card manualy(not with oc scanner) +200mhz Core and +1000mhz Mem for benchmark test (but for daily used I only used +200mhz core and +500mhz Mem)
3Dmark Timespy Extreme Score: (10% higher score than Oced GTX 1080Ti)

The Conclusion is, the GPU of ASUS ROG G20(that comes with 2 bricks 180+230w) can be upgrade to RTX 2080, but You need to buy the Blower Cooling version like Asus RTX 2080 Turbo, non blower cooling won`t be able to run well with G20. How about Founder Edition RTX 2080? it won`t work, I mean it can run but your GPU and system surely overheated.

G20CB and G20Ci can ran GTX 1080 Ti by switching the mobo jumper, G20Aj cannot, but GTX1070ti will work fine for G20Aj.

Hi,
GTX 1080ti works fine with G20AJ !! Even with the standards bricks 230W+180W

No, it wont be stable, unless you put the power target to 90%.

That guy used ATX PSU as external power supply.

Ok guys maybe it’s a dumb question but I need to know before I purchase.. *really want a rtx 2080 but but I have the rog g20aj with the i5 processor, to combat power draw I did upgrade to the 330w + 180w psu can my setup handle *this? I am planning on upgrading the processor at a later date but this is what I’m working with right now *

why can’t the Aj handle it?? There’s a motherboard switch to activate the second graphics card power supply? I’m really curious here thinking about purchasing*

You can use ASUS RTX 2080(215watt) or RTX 2070 turbo edition(175watt) for G20AJ. but not GTX 1080ti (250w).

G20aj can`t handle GPU with more than 230w TDP, because it has different jumper with CB or Ci. AJ can`t set the jumper to dividing the power like Ci and CB did.
Fyi eventhough Ci and CB can run GTX 1080ti nicely, but doesnt mean its 100% compatible, coz u might get a little problem, like sometimes the cpu wont turn on.

no jumper switch?? What exactly was it that I did in this video? I have a g20. Aj and he was talking about moving jumpers so I did but maybe it’s not what I thought it was (2mins 40 seconds)

alright so i bit the bullet and bought a rtx 2080. i was originally going to do it for the game bundle but, on ebay i found a kinda exclusive HP edition RTX 2080; the ooonly reason i say exclusive is because when i first saw it i thought maybe it was a fake because i had never seen that model before and after searching through places i shop (i.e newegg, amazon, best buy) i COULD NOT find this style for sale and even after the guy told me its hp i tried looking it up again and still nothing for hours till i finally came across this page for specs on it listed below, but no where to actually purchase it. i gathered it must come out of the prebuilt hp omen because that is the only thing searching it on any shopping site would give back after typing "hp rtx 2080" and the ad said it did come out of a prebuilt pc but didn't say which one it actually was. paid 610 +shipping so i think it was worth it.

so far I've had no issues with power consumption, although this could change after i try ray tracing enabled or and if i try overclocking . currently im using the 180+230w psu, but i did purchase the 330w psu before the i bought the card out of fear my current psu wouldn't be enough. it dosent fit in the little case for your power bricks so i wanted to test it with the 230w brick to see if there would be issues (this was before Spartans post) and I've had no problems so far.
