Bios 1603 is out

Just wondering if anyone else is seeing this issue. Since I have updated my BIOS with the modded code, it seems that my "speedstep" technology that allows my CPU to scale downward in voltage when not under load seems not to be working. The power delivery is set to balanced and speedstep is enabled in the BIOS but for whatever reason the voltage and the CPU max frequency is always at 4.8Ghz. Anyone else seeing this issue?

If not I'm not sure what is happening. I used adaptive in BIOS and normally haven't had this issue. I'm going to try my other BIOS with the normal 1603 BIOS and see if is truly the cause. BRB!

After recently microcode update since 02000050 to 02000057 . Intel trying to Optimized their Skylake and Skylake Refresh SKU performance with lastest 2018 Spectre Vulnerables. There were a lot of work for Lazy FPU and L1TF vulnerabled as anyone knowing from github and many sources of developers.

The mostly impact vulnerable patched was L1TF, on some Linux systems it was HT disable by recommend for mitigation this vulnerable issue. Microsoft also working to solving this issue too, however on Windows systems we didn’t need to disable HT like Linux.

During Intel and Microsoft working to mitigation this issue, We must absorb some effects on our systems. Not only us here, the whole X299 and Skylake W, D , SP also impacted.**

Microcode newier also better on performance and Spectre & Meltdown fixed same as Windows newier Build also.

To be clear, is the BIOS you are currently working with the new 1603 BIOS and the newer microcode to better help those who want to run the Spectre / Meltdown fixes?

The one I currently have with 49h works better with Spectre turned off if I read correctly.

For info, I tested the microcode 57 and still the TJMax at 110° and cores warmer about 5°

That is unfortunate. But 5 degrees warmer for spectre protection may be a good trade off. Better than losing 25% of my SSD speed.

The problem is that according to Intel, a microcode can not change the TJMax and increase the temperature of the cores, so there will be a bug

So is it actually changing the TJMax or is TJMax just being reported as lower but a CPU can still go to 110C? In my testing I saw the numbers go grey at 105C but I didn't see any throttling. Are you actually seeing throttling at 105C?
