Ill stay where I am for the moment as I dont now nor will I ever run optane memory modules. The optane drives are working fine on the last one.
Anxiously awaiting a tweaked microcode. Doing better now than before but we can always hope for more improvement.

I've been getting some instability (application CTD's but no BSOD's) with my OC'd x7820 @4.8GHz since updating to 1602 on my APEX Rampage MB. My first thought is to downgrade back to 1503 which was solid and stable since it's release for me. Why fix what's not broken!

Any issues if I do this? I haven't installed any other mods or anything like that.

You got two BIOS, put 1503 on the other one and keep everything else the same and give it a go. It could be just the 5 -8 degrees higher, might be something else. No harm at backtracking to something that worked before.

Interesting... I never really thought I could do that. I always thought it was for emergencies (corrupt bios update).

Any docs on how to access and utilise the second BIOS?

Use ASUS Flashback method to update BIOS 1 again with 1503 BIOS better than use second BIOS.

Losing your OC is an EMERGENCY!!! LOL

To get to the alternate BIOS just hit the button on the MOBO while it has power but not powered up, should see the light switch over. The use BIOS flashback. Im assuming you know how to do that, if not just format a jump drive (preferably a small one less than 8GB) rename to R6E.CAP and put it in the USB port on the back labeled BIOS then push and hold the top left button in the back until it starts flashing and give it a minute or two. start up and st up your BIOS. I stayed back on 1004 for a very long time. It worked for me and never had issues. Then I just had to go buy a 9940X and the microcode had to be updated. 1503 kinda worked but under performed. 1603 is hot until Using the BIOS Tistou provied with microde 49 that dropped my temps back to where they should be, like a 4C drop and doing nothing else.

Mr Spectre and Mrs Meltdown screwed everyone in more ways than one.

Just gotta have the system powered off but plugged in. There should be a button on the bottom right of the motherboard. Press it and the yellow light that shows which BIOS the board is currently on, will switch over the other BIOS. Turn on the computer and you are in the new BIOS. Update it to 1503 or whatever you want and you are set. I often use the second BIOS to upload new BIOS builds on to test them thoroughly a few days before I move it over to my main BIOS, just in case there are problems. You can use it just like the main BIOS with all the same features. It is a nice thing to have. Check the manual if you can't find the red (or black) button on your motherboard.
