So, you are saying that your modded bios 1603 with microcode 49 is better than the one here https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthrea...E-is-out/page1 with microcode 55 because it generates less heat?

Can someone please help me in choosing the right microcode for a 7900x which I will OC to 4.4 to 4.5 using an aio?

If the Spectre patch is activated (by default under Windows), the best is the microcode 55 (a little more efficient compared to the 49 for example but still less efficient than the old 2B)
That's why I disable the Spectre patch, I have the same performance as before

Since the microcode 4D, the CPU heats up more, for that I do not use it
But it does not bother some to have their CPUs that heat more

That's why there are 2 bios 1603 (with microcode 49 and with microcode 55)
If you're not sure, stay with the official 1603 or 1503

02000043 microcode was the first official release to address CVE-2017-5715/5753/5754 ( Spectre V1 V2 and V3 (Meltdown)).

02000049 microcode was the second patch to address performance impact by 02000043 microcode which Intel sending to MS directly.
Then Microsoft used by default for its October 2018 update. This microcode address many platform performance a little bit when we
compared to 02000043.

0200004D microcode was the third patch to protect against CVE-2018-3639/3640/3665/3693 ( Spectre V3A V4 Lazy FP L1TF )
This microcode idle state of CPU since Haswell Microarchitect increased to address Lazy FP vulnerabled. Performance was
better on heavy multithread performance but a little bit impact single thread performance due L1TF patch. * * *

0200050 microcode was the forth patch to address single core and performance impact due 0200004D microcode. Microsoft
trying to Optimized new OS Kernel since Insider Build 18272.1000 (2019 H1 Windows) . This microcode revision also keep
AVX2/AVX512/FMA3 better performance than 0200004D.

02000055 microcode was the fifth patch improve overall performance better than 02000050. The AVX2 / AVX512 and FMA3
work load on Skylake X / SP SKUs very efficient than 02000050.*
