I just purchased this G703GI-WS91K laptop and first thing i noticed was a high pitched noise coming from inside. I am coming from a G752VY and before that a G721JY-DH71 and neither of them have this issue. The noise is unbearable. It happens if the fans are running or not running or if the laptop is idle or doing work.

The noise sounds like a mix between a old spinner hard drive and a dot matrix printer.

I have emailed Asus to see what they say but wanted to see if anyone knows anything i can do.

I got the same noise in mine as bignadad has in his. Its definetly not its HDD. I've checked that.

Hi, same problem G703GS GTX1070..

The sound is very annoying, and it started a few weeks ago. any information on how to solve it?

After reviewing your email I understand that you are hearing abnormal sounds from your ROG G703GI Notebook. I’m sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue, it will be my pleasure to assist you in resolving it. Based on the issue explained and the YouTube links provided, I will recommend that you try following the steps below as well as updating a few drivers from our Support Site with the links listed in aid with resolving this issue.

1. Power Off
2. Unplug the charger
3. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds
4. Plug in only the charger
5. Push the power button and tap on "F2"
6. Once into the BIOS, tap "F9" and select "Yes"
7. Then tap on "F10" and select "Yes"

Step 1: Extract contents of the Zip folder.

That did not fix the issue so now they want me to send it in for repair. Not sure if I'm going to do this or not. I just got everything setup on this machine and to be without it 7 to 10 days seems like a lot.

7-10 days is great for RMA services. Or at least I would be happy with that (not happy about RMA, just turn-around time). I had an Asus ROG G73JL for several years. Once I upgraded, I went with the MSI Titan Pro (G73VR). Faulty GPU and massive backlight bleed. RMA on day one. I had to spend $50 to ship it to them, and it took them 29 days to get it back to me (problems not solved btw). After several RMAs, and 6 months, I gave up, sold it and got my Asus. I hope it is something they can fix for you.

I just figured out the laptop does NOT make the noise without the power adapter(s) connected. With one or both power supplies connected it will start as soon as i plug them in. But without the noise is gone. Can anyone else confirm this?

just got a brand new g703gi ..

and i can confirm the above problem!
makes this strange noises as soon as i connect them to the powersupply. (one or two does not matter)
i guess its coil whine, nothing that can be done about it..

also try typing something the noises will stop as long as you type 😉
or try clicking the "GAME PROFILE" Settings Symbol in Gaming Center all the time it will make them go away everytime you click for one second 🙂

i personaly dont find them as annoying as you but i havent had this on my previous msi gt72 laptop

anyway i just think this is a thing everyone of those laptops has.

edit:
sometimes after some time in idle the fans will spin up a bit and it will stop.

Coil whine usually means some currents or current noises are off the designed limits. Maybe some current filters in the PSU went foobar or are of inferior quality. So probably faulty power brick.
To determine this one needs oscillometer to see the current/noises under normal loads. I doubt Asus service does this as a standard procedure, but I might be wrong.

This is the same noise I am getting. RMA wont solve the problem. Apparently most of the G703 series has this, I thought It was SSD making the noise but as you say it might be coil whine. Asus says its normal for high performance devices like this.
