BIOS 1103 not stable

I installed BIOS 1103 over the weekend and tried my best to get it stable. I tried setting my memory to 3266 (which is what I had it at before) and used the Ryzen DRAM Calculator as I have Samsung B-DIE 2x16 Corsair CMK32GX4M2F4000C19

Under BIOS 1002 I was able to get up to 3333Mhz stable. Unfortunately with BIOS 1103 I can't get anything stable. Sometimes it will pass Intel Burn Test only to then start reporting issues on next reboot that it can't find my boot drive (which is a Samsung 860 EVO M.2 2TB drive.)

However if I go back to BIOS 1002 everything is fine.

A simple solution, go back to 1002. Most find stability difficult to attain at 4000MHz. It's not the Bios but the use of it.

Yea, I wasn't running them at 4000. I bought them because they are Samsung B-Die and where very well priced.

Under 1002 I got them running at 3333MHz

Under 1301 I can't get them stable even at 3266Mhz

The weird part is that it would pass all the test but sometimes on reboot the BIOS can't find the boot drive.

I went back to BIOS 1002 and it is working fine again (used Flash Back).

It seems as if UEFI 1103 may have worse support for 32GB RAM setup.

I can gain the frequency that I could on prior UEFIs, but not the tightened RAM timings, I use 4x8GB (F4-3200C14Q-32GVK).

UEFI 1101/1103 uses AGESA 1.0.0.6, this includes an update to CPU IMC firmware, AFAIK ASUS can not tweak the IMC FW. I'm doing some retesting on both 1002/1103 and will let you know how it goes again 🙂 .

Try changing geardown to ON - It gives many the ability to stabilize >=3200MTs

Also, try lowering your ram and SoC voltages and retuning them - that's what I had to do to get this bios working. CPU voltage also a little bit lower. You can't assume previous OC will just work on 1103 - you almost certainly need to go back a bit to retune your ram OC..

I didn't assume previous overclocks would work. I just used the Ryzen calculator to try and get 3266 to work on safe timings (geardown is on) and did no overclocking on the CPU. It just did not matter what I did it was not stable and occsionally would not be able to boot up from the M.2 and ask where the boot drive was.

I updated the BIOS back up to 1103

This time around it seems to be working at 3266 but I can't get 3333 to work. I tried several different timings and it just wont go with a 2x16 (32GB total) B-Die total. I get about 8 passes on Intel Burn Test at VERY HIGH usage before it fails.
