Asus Maximus XI Extreme Problem with "cpu current capability" limited at 140%...

Hi guys

i have too this great motherboard "Asus Maximus XI Extreme" but i want to know if its an hardware problem about the "cpu current capability 140% (max)" when Der8auer or other youtuber can put an max of 200% when some of us are limited to 140% Maximum...

i have an enermax 1200w PSU, i have 2x8gb G. Skill 4266, the intel 9900k, an NVMe 970 Pro 1gb, for the bios setting i was using the IGP (because my video card was on my working computer at this moment)

why this ? i fault first because they have an beta or not the last bios but they have the same of us the last 0602...

on the PCB of my Asus Maximus XI Extreme is writen revision 1.02 maybe is depend of the hardware version we have ? an buged version or locked version ?

Or more easy i hope something on the bios we dont activated or disable ?

thank you for your support

hello dear Phillyflyer

like i said on the topic the last one the 0602 (oups... Maybe my message dont display or i make an error of the version ? i update it by usb flashback 4 days abo and DL from asus website). and my motherboard is the revision 1.02. of course i push the button for an hard reset and load the optimized bios before i start to work on the settings.

i have an enermax 1200w PSU, i have 2x8gb G. Skill 4266, the intel 9900k, an NVMe 970 Pro 1gb, for the bios setting i was using the IGP (because my video card was on my working computer at this moment)

if you saw the video of Der8auer on youtube he can put 200% (i make a mistake on the topic) and me i can sleect only 140% at maximum

Phil you have too the same bios of me ? and your hardware revision is the 1.02 ?

if you have any info to have the 200% will be realy great

@marcolisi

hi yes 200% not 170% i corrected ^^ you too you are blocked at 140% maximum ? you have the same bios of me ? same hardware revision 1.05 ?. do you use the igp as a video card when you set your bios ? 🙂

I believe it was available on the initial bios 506...if memory serves me correct....didn't play with that bios too much...pretty much updated to bios 602....

I can confirm that 0506 did allow a higher setting. I'm using 0602 as well and the max is 140% with this bios.

hello guys

on a youtube video a guy show on this last bios 0602 he put an max of 170%.

can you tell me which hardware release version you have ? maybe is because of this ? mine on the board is writen 1.02

Guys please what exact setting you recommand me to put in this case of 140% max ? to OC to 5.1/5.2ghz ?

except in overcloking area, can you tell me if i can disable in cpu area setting the cstates, put the cpu in max non turbo and disable the Intel SpeedStep ? any thing else in other settings arrea ?

i have this setup:

- 9900k oc to 5.1 or 5.2 but not stable at the moment (i just delid it, i will normaly install it in direct die without the IHS)
- Asus Maximus XI Extreme
- 4x 8gb G. Skill 4266
- 2x NVMe 970 Pro 1gb (will set in RAID 0)
- an old Titan X (when money will buy an rtx 2080)
- Enermax Platimax DF 1200W PSU

- watercooling system with an MO-RA3 Pro radiator 8x180 Silverstone (i dont install yet my custom watercooling)

200% was only useful for ln2 so at 0602 it only appears when ln2 mode is enabled. do you ever hit ocp under normal cooling with 140%?

der8aur and others are at 200% (and some other cant more than 170% or 140% like me).

i dont understand "do you ever hit ocp under normal cooling with 140%? " what mean ocp ? sorry for my english dont understand the meaning.

i dont put yet my watercooling like the mora etc... i was just using an NZXT Aio 360 to test the oc before transfert those stuff to my pc case where is my old setup (but working, need working computer to work. i prefer to solve all the issues of oc before. maybe defect motherboard...)

thank you

What I meant was that there's nothing wrong with your board, just that new bios hides 200% unless ln2 mode is enabled(meaning you move the ln2 jumper) as 140% is more than enough for normal oc
