What board do you have? Did you roll back to optimized defaults and just attempt to flash again? What problems did you have?

Something I'm curious about is if you want to roll back to the prior bios 1) is it an issue because the new flash updated CPU microcode and 2)does it just retain the newer microcode and flash the BIOS to the older version? I remember watching it update the microcode during the procedures for 1704 but I wonder what would happen on the new one?

What was the USB bug? Was the one where existing USB devices kept being detected as new ones, thus adding themselves again in Device Manager? So far this is a stable BIOS, can't complain.

I sort it out. I have maximus X Hero WiFi. Actually i find out how to flashback bios in to 1704. This problem with flashback occur because my lack of knowledge and ASUS provide wrong information into the users about what correct name of CAP file we should use. They say have to be M10H.CAP but it isnt true. For Maximus X Hero WIFI I have to use M10HWIFI.CAP to be able even start procedure of flashing bios. Check this page: https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1013998/ after flashing back into 1704 all my problems as high temp of my gtx1080 and problem with fans remain. Its mean nothing wrong with this BIOS 1801. I will update to 1801 soon anyway. But now at least I know exactly what to do if new BIOS will cause any issues.

Now I would like share what cause my problem with GTX and fans.
    1) GTX 1080 - just couple hours before I update bios I did also update Nvidia drivers and no idea why my core clock stuck on 1670MHz and memory clock on 5000MHz. This was the reason of higher temperature on idle. After reinstalling Nvidia drivers this problem just gone. Now GTX 1080 sit on 35 degrees instead 55.
    2) Fans - Bios start to see them as fans which can speed down only to 60% of maximum speed. I just dont play with it any more and solved my problem simple use SpeedFan for all my fans.

Discovered a problem with using XMP Profile and CPU Offset Vcore.

After flashing 1801 and using the same OC settings as in 1704, the CPU reduces the Vcore only to 1,18V at idle. At load usual Vcore at 1,25V.

Before flashing the Vcore was reduced to 0,608V at idle correctly, acc. to Offset Voltage -0,02V.

Only if I disable XMP and increase the DRAM manually, the idle vcore goes down to 0,608V with the new BIOS. Please check!!!

Maximus X Hero WIFI here, XMP enabled and OC on CPU, and everything works properly.

Maybe do a USB Flashback and Clear CMOS?

After version 1602, the memory stability of the F4-4000C18D-16GTZR x apex disappeared. while the other place is being broken. I can't tighten the timings of high MHz anymore.

Thanks, find the reason, I set both min. and max. Ring LLC Clock to 4.4GHz, so no real downclocking. Now set min. to AUTO and max. to 4.4 GHz and the Vcore reduces now again to 0.608V at idle.
