This doesn't work. With all usb compents removed, clear CMOS, USB drive partitioned and formatted to FAT32. Tried 3 different USB drives. Renamed the bios according to the manual. It's never let me downgrade. I've seen the walkthroughs and tutorials and followed step by step and no go.Any real solutions to this are most welcome.

I'm having very intermittent freezes that last about 10 seconds and resume to normal. One of my platter drives goes to 100% when this happens. It all started around the time I upgraded to 1801 bios, which is also close to when I installed a SoundblasterX AE-5. I just want to downgrade the bios to eliminate that as the potential trouble maker.

Interesting, I haven't updated to the 1801 bios but I have been experiencing intermittent freezes that lasts for seconds and then back to normal too and I also hear a click from one of my HDDs when it resumes to normal. I tried the changing the Haddrive to "Active" in the AHCI Link Power Management in the Power Options but that didn't help. This just started happening for the past 2 weeks now with nothing changed to the computer other than updating Windows 10 to version 1809. I might try out the 1801 bios to see if this fixes it.

I had the same symptoms when updating to 1809. I traced it to Intel RST drivers. When I rolled back to a much earlier version of RST, the freezing dissapeared. Later, when I removed the last HDD from my system, I reinstalled the latest RST and have had no issue since. I think the issue is with the interaction between the way 1809 spins down HDD ( I had mine set to spin down after a few minutes) and newer RST drivers.

yes, i cant use newer RST drivers either. Ive been using RST(e) even though at that point if it werent for my ocd id just use the standard MS drivers.

They cause some kinda mini freeze that makes my headphone jack thing pop up from time to time. Shame but has been going on for awhile.

hoping they push a new bios beyond 1801 for the formula as my BT just decided to go out completely. Not even found by mobo. A bios update is my last ditch effort at fixing it.

finds the wifi fine. already did a cmos reset. an optimized defaults. a complete power cycle. a format. its just suddenly gone. good times for a >400 dollar mobo.
