To monoblock or not to monoblock?

Just because some vendors are not educated very well doesn't change anything. That's like saying watching the trees go by out the window of your car is the same as a speedometer. One indicates movement, the other measures it.

Flow indicator= simple hamster wheel.
Flow meter = measurement of actual flow

If you just want to see the hamster wheel moving then who is to argue your preference. Me, I want to know how much flow is actually happening as with a visual hamster wheel only that binds up and has jerky movement (they all do sooner or later) I cant tell if I'm pumping 5L/Hr or 500L/Hr. I bought the bitspower that is a flowmeter and has an output, still have it sitting on a shelf as a reminder of what not to do. To get it to move it takes and insert that chokes down the flow to create high pressure to get the hamster wheel to move. With the orifice out, the wheel doesnt move. With it in there is more flow from a gnats butt hole. The orifice chokes it down to less than half of a G1/4 fitting.

I always as a rule of thumb check product specs to make sure there are no mistakes or marketing fluff because that happens a lot with everything. If its still not clear Ill contact the vendor before making the purchase and nail them down to guaranteeing what they have listed. Ive had some tell me they dont have the item and cant inspect it so they cant guarantee anything......so guess who doesn't get my business.If you cant stand behind what you sell, at least what its sold as then I refer to that as scamming.

As for huge as digital display, I just took a close photo for clarity. Its much smaller than the TT meter you referenced about 2 inches long and 1 wide, not much different from the Rock you referenced at 1.5x1.5 inches and the build is far better than the TT contraption.


No one is questioning your preference, just stating that the Rock is not a flow meter more for clarification of someone else that might look and think that based on your post that it is.


I will say that the rock will not restrict flow like the bits power does as from I can see there are no orifices.

I'm just stating a fact there naming conversion isn't always correct so call it what you want, Rock or Stone at the end of the day I do not care and as for you opinion I didn't ask for it, like I have said I don't want a digital meter as long as I can see its spin rate thats all I need its not rocket science.

There are also some Flow indicator that have a RPM header so you can see the RPM of the spinner but like I said I'm happy with the basic.

No matter how you slice it the two are different in every way shape and form. Just because some cant get it right doesn't change that. Its not rock or stone, Its flowers and boulders.
I was just pointing that out and went way out of my way to make it clear no one is knocking your choice you can use what you want, its your rig. No one said in any way that what you want to do with your rig is wrong or right, its what you want.
Other people read posts looking for information and I just pointed out that what you referenced in not a flow meter. This is 100% irrefutable fact. To offer up alternatives for the 7 billion other people on the planet is not saying you should use what you dont want to.

In the end we all build what we want. You like the wheels on the bus going round and round, I like knowing how fast the bus is going. Neither is right or wrong, just different preferences. We would all still like to see it when you get done.

Now If we can move on please to monoblock discussoins that would be awesome! Im done with flow indicator discussion.

So I'm back guys, with the chopper ISH with LM I haven't done any Overclocking yet just happy to have my system up and running with the new 7940x.



heres after a few runs of Cinebench check out these stable temps with minor jumps between them, this just shows the monoblock has no issues its just the IHS after delidding.

The Rampage VIE monoblock is really nice to look at and in my case has worked great for the last 8 months on a non-delidded i9-7940X. However, I am going with direct die cooling now so this cannot possibly be made to work without the IHS.

Yet, even when delding it is going to be a hit and miss and contact will depend on the any height differences of the IHS (before/after delid) because of resealing or not and the amount of silicon applied. However, the whole point of delidding is to reduce the thickness of the thermal interface material (paste vs LM) in order to increase thermal performance. And as such, if the IHS is lowered beyond a certain point there is no way to achieve perfect contact with the IHS - AND - THE VRMS!
We have an angle here, small or big, that will exist no matter what vs going with a dedicated CPU block that can be spring loaded.

So I have ordered 2X EK Velocity blocks to use in two PCs and the second was because I wanted the D-RGB version that came 20 days after I bought the first. It would be great for your customers to offer the D-RGB frame as a standalone upgrade instead of having to buy a new block to get the addressable leds. I got a second one because I need two but otherwise I did not really like the fact that I can't buy the LEDs separately. We are in the custom watercooling community and these things should be given..

At some point, we will actually be offering the different sections as standalone pieces to order. Not sure of an ETA yet though. Sorry

No problem with ETA - it just happened that I bought too close to the D-RGB version release but since I am buidling another PC too I got the second one and problem solved. The reason I suggested that though is because it is possible since the RGB pcb is separate so whenever you release it I may grab one for the second block along with any other items I might need at the time.

I am glad that you are reading our comments and considering them too. Although I have been absent for several years from the water cooling scene I've been an EK custom since the days of nVidia 8800GTX when I bought two GPU blocks from EK back then. When I returned to water cooling action a year ago things were totally different and the "EK" company a different "beast" along with the rants that follow such a transition. Lately though I am under the impression that EK is making an effort to connect with their customers again in more efficient ways than in the recent past...keep it up and focus on quality is what I have to say.

Besides looks a separate vrm water block will likely preform better than any mono block will especially on the cpu end being separate.
Been there done that mono blocks on wall of shame
