To monoblock or not to monoblock?

For my 7900 the difference at idle is negligible and not so bad at sustained but there are a couple cores that spike 20-30 degrees higher but don't stay there. Cores 2 and 8 are my worst with 3 being irritating at times. The temps under load seems to be fairly consistent with the exception of those two cores. Perhaps they are on the outside of the CPU. I've never done the spin test on this CPU but i do know if you lap it, it will kill any warranty but the warranty is already dead as I delidded this, so next time I change fluid out I'll test it and see if it needs any lapping. Personally I'd be a little more concerned if the idle temps were 10-30 degrees different rather than a stress test.

Where does one find this information? O Specifically for the 7900x CPU.

Ive not seen an actual tag as to which cores and go by the NEMA standards left to right, top to bottom. Some will argue its random citing the favorite core scheme but thing is favorite cores vary chip to chip. Its different on HCC as some are just disabled from a total of 18 to make the other variants.

For my part, I think of a mounting problem with Velocity
Otherwise the WB is slightly convex but much less than the Koolance

The hotter cores on my screen would match what location on the die ?

I hesitate to take the frame of ICE
Or I expect more tests of 9980XE (heating, etc ...) and no problem of direct die

I know people that have claimed warranty on delidded CPUs you can restore it back to factory, so your better off buying a copper IHS if your want it lapped.

The IHS is already copper, just nickel plated. Im not one that would break something then file a warranty claim. I believe in Kharma, If im not willing to risk it then I simply don't do it. Ive known people like that too and they are not the type of people I call friend. My own 17YO son found out by his friends that you can write to lifeproof claiming damage on a phone case you never bought and they would send you a new one. Guess who wrote a formal letter of apology to Lifeproof for making a fraudlent claim and included a check out of his own money for the MSRP of the case to mail in with the letter! I make sure the places I buy from have liberal return policies and windows. Last delidded chips I did came from SL AFTER they started offering a one year warranty. 6700K and 7700K I did myself.

Well if you break it that's fine I'm talking about if the CPU fails die to something else not related to delidding, it mite be copper but it's not lapped.

I’ve yet to have a CPU fail since my first 386DX II build from anything other than me screwing it up! LOL. One DOA in all these years to that was dead before I could screw it up. AMD FX52!

I've never killed a CPU ether but It can be done, the copper IHS you can buy is lapped.
