I have an open case and during benchmarking, they turn on but with no noise. I have to use a flashlight to see both of them spinning. They are surprisingly quiet.

This is what I did. I'm enjoying the Omega. RVIE is a great board but the Omega just feels/looks more premium to me.

I need help configuring something as simple as RAID 1. We've given up on RAID 10. But even RAID 1 is impossible on this thing.

I see M2_1 is available for RST premium RAID but I can't get a second SSD to show up. Have tried both Dimm.2 slots, we also have a Hyper x16 card.

Is RAID possible using the DIMM.2 Module?

For two days now and countless googling I've not been able to setup a RAID configuration using the DIMM.2 module on the Omega motherboard.
I'm booting off the M.2_1 motherboard with a 970 pro and attempting to setup two 970 Evo drives as a Raid volume on the DIMM.2 module.
Neither method, EZ Tuning Wizard nor CPU storage configuration, worked. The 'Wizard' reports "WMD2 (unsupported)", while the CPU VROC shows both disks as "Non RAID physical disk". I don't see the option to select the disks and create a RAID volume. Note: I previously had an APEX VI board which was a dream to configure this very same option.
The new 504 bios did not bail me out.
Any success stories out there? Plan B option is to go with the Hyper card but I purchased this board for DIMM.2 storage.

To use VROC they gotta be intel drives, but the weird part is on the R6E you could RAID the samsungs (at least the 960 Pros) but you would get a expiration warning in the IRSTE GUI until you added the key or it would stop working. So it sounds very strange. Maybe the 970's are not supported with VROC not all SSDs are even with the key. If you shut off VROC in the BIOS and go through the regular IRST controller you might be able to RAID them using the non-enterprise driver. Oh one last thing you might try the IRSTE GUI, you can RAID drives in it. My BIOS in the R6E didn't work right to RAID VROC in the earlier versions.

Thanks Charlie for the reply. I don't plan to use the raid array as a boot drive, only temporary data. They 970 evos don't show up in the IRST app, apparently only SATA and PCI ports are scanned?
I've contacted ASUS support and forwarded screen shots (F12) of the various BIOS configurations. Holding out hope; perhaps even a phone support. Their initial response email - see item 4, is NOT an option in my 0504 BIOS . .
"Can you please confirm if this are the following steps that you have done on settings up the following drives?
    1. This compartment hold M.2 Socket ,insert the M.2 into place. Secure the second M.2 place onto DIMM.2 Module left side.
    2. Go to Advanced->PCH Storage Configuration->SATA Mode Selection, and select Intel RST Premium(RAID
    3. .Go to Advanced->Onboard Devices configuration.
    4. Select M,2_1(DIMM.2) source selection set to PCH.
    5. Go to Save and Exit save and reboot.Go back to see if your new RAID volume is showing up in Advanced-> Intel(R) rapid storage technology and then Create RAID Volume.
    "
    I'll be updating my progress.

Not very attractive IMO. No more live dash and it looks cheap. Not only that, I don't think the R6EO needs a monoblock at all. My VRMs never get above 44C and that is during bench marking. Under "normal" use, they never hit 35C.
