The board has active VRM cooling and ample heat sinks, so I doubt you will need an alternative method for cooling the VRMs.

I do not have the board in front of me, so you will need to check the size of the EK Terminal to determine if it is 4-slot or 3-slot. If the former, then yes, you will need to replace it.

My guess is no they will release a standard VRM block for it and skip the CPU, because if the VRMs are spread out all over the top of the board, then a monoblock would be to large.

    First review is out:

    http://www.twoeggz.com/news/13175946.html

Still not available anywhere but I see distributors in Europe having them:

    https://www.spire.co.uk/product_deta...rds&cat_id=121

They don't sell to individuals though.

Maybe later today on newegg, its due for the 16th

Another article with a lot more details to see:

I’d love to know if Asus would be willing to sell the DIMM.2 shielding provided with this board seperately. Would love to add it to my R6E build! *I would even pay $35 bucks for it

Unlike the R6E, the VRM rad seems to be part of the block I / O (block with oled)
Impossible to put a monoblock or a waterblock for the VRM without "risky manipulation"
    Sorry for my english

Umm who to believe? and why bother upgrading the VRM cooling if this EK rep is correct lol.

Previous to the x299 platform, I would agree generally with the statement. As we saw with the x299 platforms, many motherboard manufacturers had to change the VRM heatsinks up quite a bit from the way they had it with the original boards coming out. If I remember correctly, this was one of the reasons for the delay of the R6E and R6A. De8auer did a lot of testing and found that with the older heatsinks, the VRM was getting well over 100+C and that it was due to a poor heatsink. By simply putting a fan for active cooling above these early motherboards, fixed the problem. The later motherboards like the R6E and the R6A not only came with a better VRM heatsink but included a little fan to help out.

Bottom line, generally in the past the VRMs would never get so hot that you'd need to worry and if you were doing severe overclocking, most people don't use monoblocks because they are mainly for aesthetics and don't always make full contact with the CPU/VRM that is needed with extreme overclocking.
