Was still running stable when I got home, woohoo! Was very happy to see that. Just out of curiosity, I decided to see what would happen if I set SOC back to auto. When I did that, HWiNFO64 showed my SOC hovering around 1.187-1.2v which surprised me. I had it set to 1.15625v and it was running fine. So I'm going to go back into my bios and lower that again. Should help longevity and temps.

So I ran Prime95 again for peace of mind and got errors in a couple threads after 20-30mins. I tried increasing ram voltage some more to 1.365v which was running fine for several hours prime95 but after watching some youtube and playing some music, computer crashed this afternoon. Sigh.
3200MHz isn't meant to be I guess. Hopefully this will be fixed with next bios update. Until then, going back down to 2800MHz with DOCP and 40.5 ratio and everything else auto. I can't in good conscience post my OC guide video after all this.
Oh, and I ran memtest last night and passed, no errors. So I don't think it's the actual dimms.Last edited by fjsarmiento; 01-13-2019 at 06:30 PM.

What SOC voltage? You might have to work a bit more on that...too much can be as bad as too little...have to find sweet spot...

I was using 1.15v when I set it manually trying to run 3200MHz with ram voltage 1.36v. I think I ended up using 1.1625v soc when I tried increasing to 1.365v ram. When I set it to auto, it was hovering around 1.18-1.2v when running Prime95 and I thought that was too high. Either scenario produced errors (hardware failure) in a couple threads during Prime95 Blend.
Currently hovering around 1.094v to 1.1v as I'm set to auto again under full load (Lightroom generating smartpreviews on 1600 images right now). And again, I'm back down to 2800MHz for my ram at 1.35v running auto everything else with 40.5 ratio.Last edited by fjsarmiento; 01-13-2019 at 07:55 PM.

I went back to Canada Computers and exchanged my ram. Corsair advised I do this and I figured it was worth a shot even though I don't think it was the dimms.
I'm going to run everything (cpu, ram, gpu, etc.) stock out of the box (JEDEC specs ram at 2166MHz) for now. NO overclock. I've had a taste of performance from my overclocking these past few weeks so I'm going to see if I notice a difference in performance in my regular work and gaming at factory defaults. On paper, I'm losing around 10% of performance/fps but let's see...

More often than not it's the memory controller on the CPU...but at least this way you can be sure of that...

So you're saying my cpu is faulty? I should exchange that? But didn't I void that possibility by overclocking?
I've been doing a lot of reading and apparently the vrm on this mobo isnt great. Could that be causing it?
I ran prime95 last night at default settings with my new ram but enabled docp at 3200mhz and same result, errors in a couple threads.

That's the thing though. The mobo is rated to support up to 3200 ram. I don't understand why this is happening. I did a Google search and a number of ppl had issues with going over 2800mhz on their 3200mhz ram on their ryzen builds (not just corsair).
I'm hoping I don't experience this when I upgrade to zen2 ryzen 3000 series when it comes out. Probably gonna get a new mobo then too.

I got a reply from Asus:
"Thank you for your response to ASUS Product Support. This is Neil S. and I am returning your response for a supervisor contact. I'll be more than happy to assist you.
I am here to give you a follow up about your escalation case. Please be advised that the memory you're testing is not in our memory QVL, and not in the list from Corsair forum for AMD ready. We can not validate and confirm DOCP and 3200Mhz will work, the customer confirms it.
The only way to get it stable with this AM4 motherboard is to manually adjust the timing without DOCP and if 16-18-18-36 1.35v, please adjust higher timing to 17-19-19-37 1.36V and adjust higher timing until it is stable state.
If it still do not work, must lower frequency 2800Mhz due to incompatibility with the AM4 and Ryzen processor or get one of the memory from the memory QVL list to achieve 3200Mhz
Please let me know if you have any other queries and I'll make sure to reply as soon as possible.
Once again, thank you for choosing ASUS Products and Services."Last edited by fjsarmiento; 01-19-2019 at 05:41 AM.
