Tool to compare Two Different BIOS Profiles

Hi all,

I have been having some issues with HWInfo reporting wrong socket temperatures on my Crosshair VII Hero motherboard. I think it is a BIOS setting which is causing the issue; and I would like to compare two BIOS profiles which I saved to USB.

Is there a tool which I can use to open the .cmo files and read the contents? Opening with notepad only displays ASCII characters/

Never tried it but, I'd save the profiles as text files (ctrl+f2) and use a freeware file compare/difference prog to identify value differences. I presume all settings are reported - my settings are nearly all "auto" so here's an extract of a "CMO text file" showing memory timings:
TRDWR_EOM [Auto]
TWRRD_SCDLR_EOM [Auto]
Mem Over Clock Fail Count [Auto]
DRAM CAS# Latency [15]
DRAM RAS# to CAS# Read Delay [17]
DRAM RAS# to CAS# Write Delay [17]
DRAM RAS# PRE Time [17]
DRAM RAS# ACT Time [35]
Trc [Auto]
TrrdS [Auto]

Thanks for that tip. If I can get a text file with ctrl+f2, can use Windiff or similar to check the difference.

Edit: Tried your suggestion, works like a charm. Thanks again for the constructive discussion 🙂
