    Question ROG Rampage VI Extreme上PCIe的使用問題

    各位專家們您好
    這邊有一個問題想請教一下各位
    ROG M6E這塊主機板搭配Intel Core i9-9980XE處理器可以提供44條PCIe通道
    如果今天安裝2張NVIDIA TITAN RTX做SLI
    按照M6E主機板的16/0/16/8設計分別各安裝在第1和第3個PCIe插槽
    這樣2張TITAN RTX都能各自獲得x16的PCIe資源
    但是之後就遇到問題了
    首先44條PCIe給2張顯示卡用掉了32條資源
    剩下12條PCIe資源可用
    第4個PCIe插槽可以提供8條PCIe資源
    那麼以下有幾個問題

    1. 44-16x2-8=4,還有4條PCIe資源不見去哪裡了? 是否被系統分配到其他地方還是被浪費掉了?

    2.如果第4個PCIe插槽搭配1張Intel Optane SSD 905P 1.5TB for PCIe後是不是還有4條PCIe資源可用?還是說第4個PCIe插槽不論插入什麼配件都會強制一下子就用 掉x8資源?

    3.ROG M6E主機板附屬的ROG DIMM.2擴充卡是可以整合2個M.2介面的SSD,那麼如果在這張DIMM.2卡安裝2顆M.2的SS D,是否可以剛好完全利用所有PCIe資源而不至於拖慢影響到2張顯卡SLI所佔用的x32資源 ?

    4. DIMM.2卡上面安裝2個M.2的SSD是否等同於陣列RAID 0的頻寬速度?還是說還需要另組RAID 0?又如果這擴充卡上面安裝2個Intel Optane SSD 905P 380GB for M.2做陣列RAID 0,是否能夠不會拖慢顯卡使用PCIe x32的資源之外還能獲得RAID 0所帶來的性能加速效果?

    5.承繼第4上面的第4個問題,DIMM.2擴充卡一旦安裝到這塊M6E主機板後,是不是已經用掉了M6E 主機板上面第4個PCIe插槽的x8資源?如果安裝DIMM.2後再安裝PCIe介面的SSD在M6E的第 4個PCIe插槽上是否會產生顯示卡降速的情形?換言之顯示卡各從x16自動降為x8?

    6.在使用DIMM.2擴充卡安裝2個M.2介面的SSD做RAID 0需不需要額外購入和安裝VROC配件?*

    7.透過VROC而產生的陣列和一般的陣列RAID 0有何不同的差異?

    8.在使用DIMM.2擴充卡安裝2個M.2介面的SSD做RAID 0或使用一張PCIe介面的SSD插在M6E主機板第4個PCIe插槽前提下,以及2張顯卡使用了x32資 源前提下,是否還能使用其他SATA3.3的其他配件而不降低顯卡和SSD對PCIe資源的使 用效能?

    9.R6E是2017年的產品,那麼i9-9980XE這一代的產品還會有更新的規格主機板上市嗎?

    1. No, It reserved for DIMM.2 or PCIe 3.0 X 4 device.

    2. *Please see R6E manual for ensuring.

    3. *Yes, ROG DIMM.2 can be RAID 0 on CPU PCIe 3.0 x 4 lane provide by CPU.

    4. Optane 905 380GB can be used however it was slowest Optane 905 model on the market. If you need VROC only choice them.
    * * Itā€™ll not hurt SLI Titan RTX at all.

    5. ROG DIMM.2 PCIe 3.0 provided by PCH X299 and CPU itself to running PCIe 3.0 x 4 each pieces of NVME SSD. So it might not slow down
    down SLI TITAN RTX at all. However for make sure you must testing on the shop better.

    8.The reason for choosing the way that two M.2 SSD be made RAID 0 on DIMM.2 card is for getting the best performance!Because RAID 0 could be offered faster Sequential-Read/Write than single PCIe SSD!And the other reason is that I want to use the PCIe 44 lans absolutely and no wasting!If I set up the PCIe SSD and DDIM.2 with two M.2 SSD by RAID 0 at the same time,the PC will be got the PCIe 44 lans used!Is it right?Thanks so lot again!

    I see, however if you can waiting a little bit from here. VROC SSD or PCIe SSD will destroy by Optane DC persistent memory soon.

    Optane DC Persistence Memory using DDR4 Socket and perform better than existing VROC solution or PCIe SSD around 10X.
    It will coming soon next quarter same as Optane memory hybrid solution such Intel H10 that combine 32GB Optane + 1TB QLC
    660P on single package.

    This year was major storage technology change. If you can waiting it will be cheaper and cheaper terabyte per dollars.

    VROC System you must had backup oftenly than single PCIe SSD one. OS or BIOS update recently may cause lost important data easily.
    The safe way to working on VROC, OS drive must be PCIe 905P 1.5 TB *, data on VROC RAID 0 905P 380GB x 2 .

    *Everything was up to you. For me Iā€™ll waiting for fastest solution from Intel better.
    The VROC or PCIe SSD didnā€™t *impress me for speed at all. Iā€™m looking for Optane Persistence Memory next.***

    VROC is a strange beast and takes some time to tame. I've been all up and down this street and would love to help if I can but 3 languages is my limit, this isnt one of them.

    OK just one interjection. Only DIMM.2_1 can be run on CPU lanes. DIMM.2_2 is PCH only and not capable of VROC. If you are using a single GPU none of this will slow down the top X16 slot. If two in SLI then you have to watch what you populate as putting anything in the second slot will change the third to X8 and will for the first time with RTX slow it down as the 2080TI and above are for the first time saturating X8.
