Controlling External Fan via GPU Tweak II issue

Ver. 1.9.7.1 the issue still not fixed. The solution described here works indeed but its a joke for the level of the software like this. Developers even did not read the forum, its a shame...

I have this same issue.

I am really disappointed that ASUS haven't fixed this in the 10 months since this was reported.

Shame on you ASUS. Your fantastic customers have investigated and told you what the problem is. You should not treat them with such lack of respect by not even bohtering to reply on the thread.

I bought my STRIX card specifically for it's ability to control external fans. I will think seriously about buying another ASUS product.

A quick update on the issue. I have found a solution for anyone that is experiencing this.

This solution is based on the issue that the Al3xG found (in an above post), in that "ASUSGPUFanServiceEx.exe" terminates itself on GPU Tweak II automatic start-up when Windows boots. What the below instructions do is restart "ASUSGPUFanServiceEx.exe" using the Task Scheduler app that is built into Windows. So after you do the following, your external fan should immediately start following your custom fan curve that you have set when GPU Tweak II starts up on Windows boot.

1) Open up the "Task Scheduler" in Windows.
2) Go to "Actions" tab and click "Create Task"
3) In the "Create Task" window, under the "Genera" Tab, add a "Name" for your task (I called mine "Asus GPU Fan")
4) In the "Security Options" section, make sure to check "Run whether user is logged on or not, and also check "Run with highest privileges"
5) In the "Triggers" tab, create a new one and select "At log on" for the Begin the task: drop-down menu. Leave rest of the settings as default and click OK.
6) In the "Actions" tab, create a new one and make sure "Start a program" is selected in the Action: drop-down menu. Clock on "Browse" and select "ASUSGPUFanServiceEx" in the Asus>GPU TweakII installation folder
7) Then in the "Settings" tab also make sure to check "Run task as soon as possible after a scheduled start is missed"

Save this task and each time you boot up windows, your external fan should not immediately stat following the custom fan curve that you have set.

NIce thing, cant believe this issue have more than year old!! I also discovered this and wanted to launch ASUSGPUFanServiceEx at start. I wrote a post above this recently and was looking a way to start this service but without thee the black cmd window opened. Will try this now!

Im using task manager and works like a charm, only detail is that it runs another instance of FanSevice after my PC wakes from suspension, even having "Not allow new instance" checked, well just happens once anyways and I end with 2 instances max of AsusGpuFanServiceEx.exe running . I havent noticed any negative impacts from it

My thanks also. I finally have the ext fans working.

Problems remaining:

1> they do not consistently seem to turn up to 100%, matching the user-defined default curve, about 80% sometimes.
2> it takes a long time after the heat load and temp drops before the fans slow down, up to 10-15 minutes.
3> the calibration function does not work, always saying "failed!"

As buggy as this function is, Asus should have fixed it by now.

External fans on my 2060 Super work but I can't use fan curve for them.

Asus either don't care or are completely inept. In 20 years future Asus customers will still be talking about this.

I fixed that issues by disabling lighthing service which belonged to aura

I had a chat with support on this issue, ended up uninstalling everything related to aura etc and reinstalling armoury crate only

Does any one known the electric specifications of this DC fan output ?
Max supported DC current ?
