There should be an 8pin one split into 2x 4pin cable too in the cable set. There was in my AX860i, and i hooked it and the 8 pin up to my M11F. 24+8 pin are "required", do not hook up JUST the 24pin + 4pin as it will most likely be stated in the manual. Could result in board damage. BOTH is fine.

What do you do with the extra 4 pin male end? Just tape it off? Isn't that cable made to put the 2 4 pin parts together and put in the 8 pin cpu power input?

just use a zip tie to tie it to the rest of the cable or just let it "hang" there. There really isn't much "cable" to the 2nd 4pin to hang very loose. You can indeed use it for an 8 pin. Most high-end PSU's like my Corsair AX 860i has a standard 8pin EPS cable (psu) as well as a 2x4 pin cable. They're both in use on my M11F
