yes this is certainly an unusual one. I purchased a licence directly from MS about 10 months ago for this Windows 10 Pro x64 system and it cost me $339 AUD including GST [goods and services tax]. Then i find posts from different forums how there a places where you can purchase a licence for around $30, and of course when one sees something like that one thinks where are these licences for that price when I need one? LOL

Worth a shot for an oem of the same heck buy 5

I guess at that price one can afford to experiment/test your MS account linkage theory in a VM?

Retail keys are supposed to be transferable with hardware upgrades, OEM are not. In theory small changes should not trigger deactivation even for an OEM key but moving to a VM certainly would. (ask me how I know )

That said, when hardware changes have triggered a deactivation I've called the activation hotline and successfully reactivated. A couple of times it was the automated system and once I had to speak to a live rep but I just told them I changed some of my hardware (which was true) and they seemed fine with that. YMMV. I don't abuse it or share keys so I shouldn't be on any naughty lists. If you call to reactivate the same OEM key multiple times you might hit a limit.
