ROG XI GENE Memory Support Drivers?

ROG_MAXIMUS_XI_GENE_DIMM_QVL_ABOVE_3000_1107 is under their support drivers under memory downloads - is anyone able to give me any information on what these are / how important they are?

That particular QVL (Qualified Vendor's List) lists all memory kits validated above 3000MHz that have been validated as working on the XI Gene. The list serves as a guide for users when purchasing memory in order for one to have the best possible chance of compatibility.

Oh so it's a list of confirmed compatible memory rather than a driver/software application?

For kits not listed there, look on the memory maker webisite. G.skill for instance does its own validation.
Gene and Apex are VERY good at handling memory.
