I certainly will not "switch." My 9900k is running strong at 5.1ghz and the Z390 Hero XI offers most of the latest bells and whistles. I think what will be more relevant is whether more current Intel users will consider Ryzen 2 on their next build. Chip wise, Ryzen is beginning to pull away in architecture and power/price/performance comparisons. I'm still not as comfortable with AMD chipsets and motherboards... still too many small niggling issues with the platform. But as soon as the mobos mature enough, I'd definitely consider Ryzen for my next build.

to switch from 9900K would be rather stupid, that chip and platform will be good for many years to come ))

many, many years ago, the CPU was needed to be upgraded to cope with a new windows release, today this is not the case

many times i think our need to consume and greed leads us into the decisions to upgrade today

internet and OS isn't pulling the resources from the CPU today like it did in the past

the CPU doesn't bottleneck a system like before, the user and software do

today we only jump if the game developers and reviewers tell us to

    Keep that 9900K!

Okay, edited the title again, so hope this captures your meaning better?
Otherwise, feel free to suggest a new title.
    Thanks.

The mess is really my fault for asking for the change, my apologies on that, I didn't intend to get things confusing for you or anyone. What I meant by my comment was your first post says the following:
Will you buy the new Ryzen 3000 once its launched?
Could you consider leaving intel if price and performance is more attractive?
...and the title asks if you will upgrade or switch to the new Ryzen... (which agress with your first post)

...but the poll asks what reason I would give for upgrading or switching to it, not IF I would switch.

Unfortunately you are missing the one answer that I can give in this poll, which is that I will not switch for any reason including the ones given. I like the track Intel is on, the variety of platforms offered to suit the product line, and I don't mind the cost difference. So no I won't be switching (so far as I am planning anyway). But the poll doesn't allow such an answer. Maybe you were not asking for that crowd to respond though.

It's ok without editing, thought I'd share my current opinion on Intel vs AMD
