Sound Card Upgrade: ASUS STRIX SOAR vs ASUS Xonar DSX

Hi All,

I currently have the ASUS Xonar DSX 7.1 PCIe, and it is great. I see ASUS released a newer sound card for 7.1, the "ASUS STRIX SOAR 7.1 PCIe". I'm comparing the two to see if the upgrade is worth it. I'm also currently using the Razer Tiamat 7.1 headset to game.

Have anyone done a similar upgrade to what I'm thinking about, or any insight if I should do it?

I have same Tiamat 7.1 v2 and Asus Strix Soar, and what I can say

- you have to use third party software, like equalizer apo, to manage bass redirection, because asus strix sonic studio is't include it.
- you will have sound cutting problem, check this thread https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?78464-Asus-Strix-Raid-DLX-Problem-with-sound-cutting
- you will have problems with sound enhancements in sonic studio, like some times it's working, sometimes not

I don't think that worth it to buy that sound card. Too many problems with software part of strix soar but drivers and software didn't updated long time 2017/09/19. Long time gone but problems still persist.

Thanks for the heads up. I started to use the Razer Tiamat v1 again, after using my Astro A50's and the microphone was terrible. I ended up switching back, so I'll keep the extra sound card in just incase if I switch again. I do appreciate the input greatly!
