Thank you I totally enjoy this if you can't tell. I mainly run Windows Server VMs on Hyper-V. But I have had Debian and other flavors of Linux/Unix VMs as well. I architect and develop enterprise web applications as an independent consultant from my home. So having the capability to have various customer environments on VMs works well for me. I mainly code C# these days but I started my career at IBM coding assembly and C/C++ and have written many computer programming languages in my career. The Intel Xeon W-3175X is a very cost effective chip for me and the added bonus of the Asus Dominus Extreme as a workstation MB that I can game, OC, and bench is just awesome. I love hardware more than I do software and have been building my own rigs since I left college in 89'. I even did a sub zero rig using a window air conditioner once that was a blast. This rig was one of the easiest and fun I have ever built. I wish my test bench had come with all the hardware to have had it built and had my rig in it but they shipped it missing a bunch of hardware (screws and what not) so my rig sits on the foam base it came with in the MB box which by the way is the best foam base I have ever gotten with a MB. If you wait much longer before you build a rig like this you will prolly end up on some kind of Ice Lake hardware. That platform sounds very interesting too.

As far as the VROC situation goes even though I bought 2x 1TB Samsung 970 Pro PCIe NVMe SSDs and with the Intel VROC key was able to build a RAID 0 boot drive I do not like the performance. Given the Asus Dominus Extreme has 4x U.2 connectors I think I am going to replace the Samsung drives with 3x Intel Optane SSD 905P Series (960GB 2.5" PCIe x 4 3D XPoint). The reason 3x instead of 4x is I do not want to share a PCIe lane with my GPU. I suspect the 3x Intel 905p drives will bring my drive performance back in line with my expectations. I thought I would give the latest Samsung SSDs a chance but they were disappointing. It is at low queue depth the Intel SSDs shine and since I mainly run 1-2 VMs at a time my queue depth isn't very high. I prefer M.2 SSDs (due to package size and no cables) but Intel doesn't have the density on their Optane M.2 sticks that I need in 3 sticks yet. The good side of using the U.2 SSDs is heat the M.2 SSDs get super hot and the U.2 seem to get less hot. The bad side of the U.2 drives is more cables 2x per drive one data and one power (well not sure here maybe the U.2 port powers the drive so only 1x extra cable but its a big cable from the picture on Intel's site).

Cool thanks man. As it was said in the movie Independence Day " I GOTTA GET ME ONE OF DEEZZZ" haha

Already looking at the IN-WIN 926 case for it (Again delivery problems though I fear). I had a tough time between the intel 905p vs Samsung 970 pro's myself. There are 2 main difference between the memory architectures for those drives. the Intel does super great on lots of small file sizes while 970 pro was better mid to larger files. There is several youtube comparisons and benching done between the 2 drives. just do 905p vs 970 pro and you can see them. I do similar things you do including hosting. I have been doing it since 1995 but I was born in a young man "sometime" before that .

Thanks for sharing your experience. Water Loop is something I haven't done yet. Never needed to and AIO has always done well for me. I will want to change that for this build and probably can't find an AIO for that xeon

    Anyway thanks again.

PS the benches do look bad at all but I understand your passion.

Here are the final idle temps (the min temp, same as the ambient room temperature, actually a wee bit lower in some cases, I suspect where the CPU and CPU block are it must be a lower temp in the room maybe due to the white fan blowing towards there than the rest of the room) after the TIM has cured completely (the rig has been up a full day). This shows the TIM application went great during the CPU installation (I am sure the amount I put on was overkill but it just squished to the edges and is clumped there but being non-conductive it does not matter like I mentioned before youi can't have too much but you can have too little), the EK water block works great, the IC Diamond TIM performs very well, and the loop in general is good.

I suspect you meant the benches do NOT look bad at all. You are probably right and the value/performance of the Samsungs are great. I already dumped a ton of dollars in this build and 3x Intel 905p SSDs would cost close to another 4K prolly not a good choice for me at this point value wise. People might not think it but the Intel Xeon W-3175X is really a great value build given the chip is 28 cores/56 threads, unlocked and the chip costs less than 1/3 the cost of its server counterpart.

Here is an AIO for the Intel Xeon W-3175X:
    Asetek 690LX-PN Liquid Cooler
    https://store.asetek.com/products/as...-liquid-cooler

Never used it so I cannot comment on it's performance. The article I read that referenced it said it will work with the Asus Dominus Extreme MB. Also it is sold out right now.

I have the Optane 900P 480GB as an AIC and two Optane 900p 280GB as U.2 drives. The U.2 drives hoover around 25C whereas the PCI-e counterpart sits close to 50Celsius. Of course the proximity to the GPU plays a part but the U.2 drives are cool. The only downside is that the R6E only gives me 1 U.2 port.

So I bought a RGB splitter that works great to plug the EK CPU and VRM block RGB connectors into the same RGB header on the MB on Amazon:
2PCS black 4 Pins LED Splitter Cable LED Strip Connector 2 Way Splitter Y Splitter for One to two RGB 5050 3528 LED Light Strips with 6x Male 4 Pin Plugs -30cm/12inch Long (1 to 2 Splitter Cable)
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Got the biocide stuff in my loop (already had the silver coil in the reservoir when I installed it).

Got the rig on a UPS.

Pulled my other Corsair PSU from my R6E rig and set it up to run the fans and pump, those things total will be 12 fans x 45 watts each and the pump takes 45 watts = 585 watts under full load (just when I bench)

Impatiently awaiting the missing hardware (screws etc.) for my test bench. Supposed to be here by 3pm EST.

Currently when running the Intel XTU CPU test, fans on very low speed, my UPS shows a little over 1000 watts being pulled by the 3 PSUs. So not sure but prolly need another UPS. That is a 1500 watt UPS. When I am benching I can just pull PSUs off the UPS and go straight to the wall. My office has a 30 amp circuit going to it so I have plenty of power fortunately I used to have a bunch of folding PCs is why I got that circuit put in. It will be very interesting to see based on my cooling how many watts the entire system will pull when OCing and Benching. I want to run a stable OC 24x7 too so the UPS(s) needs to handle that at a minimum.
